I had some corrosion show up on the driver door. Talked to the dealer 11 months ago who said they would pay $3200.00 on the repairs but there were no parts available waited 7 months to get a door and hinges but now they would only pay $1200.00 just said that's all we will pay turned out beautiful but expensive lost alot of resale in the last 11 months too anybody else have this issue

What is this "we will pay" crap? Do they contract out their body work to a third party body shop?

Outer body panel corrosion warranty is 5 years, unlimited miles. They should be footing the whole bill on this.

The warranty admin. Looked it over and took pictures and said this is what we will give you. I hope the class action suit goes thru so I may recover some of it needless to say most of the dealers were less than forth coming on what was warranteed they all used other body shops I gave them my estimate and they said this is what we will pay
The replacement door they sent to the body shop was in such bad shape they sent it back for another if you want to see this jeep Google super bowl jeep commercial
Best regards

I have a 2020 Rubicon and noticed a very small spot on the edge of the hood. I took it to a local dealership and they inspected the whole Jeep and took pictures. They asked if I could bring it in on 4/29. They are going to give me a loaner to drive and put a new hood on the Jeep. Warranty pays for everything. The Service Rep said they've done tons of them.

You may want to take your own pictures the issue has been hinges, hoods, doors there is a class action law suit going on about it hope be able to recover financial loss and depreciation loss during the 7 months waiting for the repairs. After I picked up the gladiator from the body shop and paid the balance the warranty admin wouldn't pay the dealer had the balls to send my a request for a survey ? on the service they provided good luck

I have this on my '22. Hood on lower edge both sides. There is a whole FB group dedicated to the issue. Went to the dealer which was yet another waste of time. Need to find one that has a body shop and see if I can get them to handle the repair.

This seems odd to me it’s such a dealer specific thing. If there is a service bulletin, class action lawsuit, and warranty extension, how is this not being universally fixed, other than when it’s clearly just a rick chip or dent?

Thinking out loud, there has to be better gasketing solutions than a zinc shim but I guess that tells me that it’s probably more than galvanic action between dissimilar metals.

Hinges inside of doors get rust sometimes as well so it’s not just an issue with the outside hinge design. If moisture is being trapped between pieces and parts, something needs to be in place to allow things to dry back out, and putting another piece of metal between everything doesn’t solve that.

Thinking about what happens inside of wall assemblies of a building, the critical thing here is creating a solution that allows the hinge to dry out. The problem with neoprene or some other kind of gasket material often use to separate dissimilar metals, is something like that squeezed in there could hold moisture even longer. We should not have to disassemble the hinges and use heat guns after it rains, to dry it out. The design of the hinge, and how it directs water needs to be looked at as well as maybe sealants that prevent water infiltration to begin with. I almost wonder if some kind of silicone sleeve / shin might help and strategic hydrophobic sealants used as you’re assembling the hinge.

Would disassembly and cleaning even help, I am not sure. It might be mostly a paint issue but if the hinges get bad enough to interfere with use then it’s not just a paint / aesthetic issue either. If vehicles have had repeat repaints then it can’t be just a paint prep quality of work issue, but it does speak to making sure not just any shop does the fix.

I just bought a 2023. Makes me slightly worried to have to worry about it but at least I have an extended corrosion warranty and a good dealer network. I don’t plan to drive the gladiator more than 5 years either.

Some dealerships do not have a body shop or contract out third party. Many just do not like dealing with paint and body issues, especially ones that are low paying warranty work.

If in/near central FL-I highly recommend checking out Lakeland Collision and Body Shop on Mall Hill Dr (directly behind Lakeland Dodge/Jeep)
I chose them to make the necessary corrosion repairs (under warranty) on my 2020 after looking into dealerships locally. They are roughly 2.5hrs from where I live-but definitely worth the drive. Great body shop, and my advisor (Julie) was excellent to deal with.

Warranty admin? Is this a third party warranty?
First I've heard that term with a genuine actual original Jeep factory warranty.

lost alot of resale in the last 11 months too
What's that got to do with anything? Nothing.

hope be able to recover financial loss and depreciation loss during the 7 months waiting for the repairs.
You're kidding, right? Expect to recover depreciation?
Vehicles depreciate no matter what, sitting, driven, and it varies with the economy and a dozen other factors. But to say you lost money due to depreciation because of a pain issue?

Were you going to sell it when you discovered the problem - is that the thing? Resale value is all that can logically be talked about, not depreciation.

Just interested, where was the corrosion BlackOak? I would have thought aluminum doors would be a plus.
