Are y’all talking about the bar itself or the bracket on the ceiling?
I definitely agree,something needs to be more centered.

How would moving the ceiling bracket change the uneven forces on the hard top? You have to find the pivot point of the bar and the top to make it lift level.

The problem with moving the bar forward too much is the rear straps won’t attach to the j-barr.

I have been waiting for a Gladiator specific hoist...glad I came across this. If you can get the right location/balance, how do you like it? I am thinking of purchasing one so I can remove the top by myself. Thanks.

Going to mess with it tomorrow and see if I can get it straightened out.

Genius me had the straps switched!
As I said in an earlier post,I’d recommend the J-Barr but save yourself some money and get buy your own winch.

Finished mine today. I’ve had one there for years, since I have a JKUR that doesn’t have a hard top anymore. So I converted the old homemade hoist by resetting the weighting and relocating the hooks. I don’t even have 150 into the setup.

However, I contacted https://garagesmart.com/ and they are producing a hoist for the JT for sale by the end of the year. I want to go this route instead so I am going to patiently wait for their product, which is superior in my opinion. It's a 'smart' product and I am an early adopter so once I have it, I will update accordingly. Many, many pictures for those of you wanting to see the JT topless.... My wife on the other hand, no chance!
