I will mainly do on road driving with my Overland.
With occasional mild off-road adventures.

I want a tire with a better look than stock, but not so much that road noise becomes an annoyance.

What do you tire experts recommend?
Am open to changing the wheels too-

There is another post where folks were showing 33 and 35 inch tires on overland rims claiming no issues and that the ride actually smoothed out. One of them put 35 bf goodrich that looked great on the overland wheels. I was using the excuse of not wanting to buy rims until I paid the loan down some but now I am rethinking that especially since I am having to air my tires enough that if the dealer doesn't fix it tomorrow that may be the nail in the coffin for new tires for the "fuller" look.

I appreciate your reply.
What is going on with your tires? Is it 1 that keeps leaking or multiple? And- yours are factory tires and rims?

Two tires but the driver front is worse than the passenger rear. One of my customers is a steel mill and there is a ton of road construction around my house so I could have picked something up but it is worse at night when the temp drops below 60. Stock rims and tires that came on the overland. I don't mind the tires and rims that much but I think the tires need a bit more "beef" as they are more like road tires. I got halfway to work the other morning and the tire alert kicked off saying one was down to 24 pounds and these days there aren't many air pumps and if you find them they want a dollar or more and that is if you have change and the unit is functional. I think one of my future mods will be an air pump in the gladiator that way I can air down if I go off the beaten path but then air back up when I go to drive home.

I installed a set of 275/65/18 Falken Wildpeak A/T AT3wa (C rated) on my OEM 18" Overland wheels. Same diameter and same sidewall height as OEM 255/70/18 tires just wider. No speedometer adjustment needed.

So far so good. Nice and quiet on the road. I’ll report back after a few thousand miles.

The set of 4 Falken tires was about $950 inc tax, mount, etc. I posted my set of 4 OEM 255/70/18 Bridgestone Dueller H/T 685 “street tires” with 1275 miles on Craigslist for $500 and sold them in 1 day. I kept the Bridgestone Dueller 18” spare as it is the same diameter (32.1”) as the new Falkens.

Might be cheaper to buy someone's 17" JTR take-offs with the same tire, but don't forget to buy all 5 (inc spare 17") if you go that route.

PS - Part of the reason I went with these Falkens is that the 275/65/18 is C rated. BFG TKOs in the same size are D rated and several members here warned about D and E rated tires being "too harsh". Again, 17" wheels give you much greater tire choices that 18" (including C rated BFG TKOs).

A 295/70R18 is about an inch taller than the stock Rubicon tire and will fit fine. any wider (305 width) requires a wider wheel, too. I can highly recommend the Falken Wildpeak AT for being quiet, good in the snow and reasonably affordable.

Based on the above post, I think I’m going to go with the sumitomo encounter at or ht in the 275/65/18. I have the ht on my ram and it did great in northern Indiana winter weather last year. The stock tires have terrible snow ratings
