Just looked on the jeep Canada site and it looks like the sport comes with Dana 44s on it. This could be crazy.

I think the Official Press Release Thread said 44s, but with 3.73 gears. I think.

Dana 44's are standard on all models but the Sport can get the optional max tow package which upgrades the axles to wide track Dana 44's and 4.10's along with some other goodies (cooling, etc.). Very cool!

If you get Max Tow then it's the Wide Track Dana 44s with 4:10 all on a Sport. I need to figure out what that means for tire sizes and how much I need a Rubicon now.

On my build sheet for a Sport, it says Dana M210 front axle and Dana M220 rear axle. Are these a type of Dana 44s or were we all mistaken and the base gets downgraded axles?

M210 and M220 (Rubi, Sport S w/ max tow), M186 and M200 (Sport, Sport S, Overland) are indeed all Dana 44

I thought all Gladiators came with M210 and M220 axles, in narrow and wide versions. M186 and M200 axles are under the JL, That is the new name for the Dana 30 and 35.

Just a guess on my part but it might be the ring gear diameter in mm. 220mm is 8.66 inches, Google says a 44 is 8.6 inches. Dana 30 is 7 1/8 inches and 186mm is 7.32 inches. Seems plausible.

Unlike numerous 'upgrades' that are questionable in value, the Max Tow package is pretty solid....

4.10 rear axle gearing, 240-amp alternator, heavy-duty four-wheel disc antilock brakes, Class IV receiver hitch, heavy-duty Dana 44 wide front and rear axles, DRL system, heavy-duty engine cooling, trailer hitch zoom with the rear back up camera, and molded-in-color fender flares.

More specifically they refer to the steer and non-steer versions of the Jeep specific Dana 44.

No you didn’t get shafted, just marketing folks being marketing folks and engineering being engineering.
