Went to drop something off at Fed Ex today.
Guy started asking questions about my Jeep.
Do I off road it.?
Most notably...does it "rub on stuff?" I assume he meant off roading
Very pretty Ranger. GIANT lift and 20s with 31s on there. All Murdered out.
I'm all nah I have done a few moderate trails around here with no problem.
Told him about wheeling with Toyotas . He said he traded in a 2018 Tacoma on his Ranger.
Said it was garbage. Told me the dealer wanted 17K for all the parts he had on his.
Then took to a guy who built it for like 10K less.
He was told 6in lift so he bought that. Seemed excessive to lift like that with 31s.
He then told me he hunts with it but it's mostly for show.
All good. Just starting to question the people that sold him that lift.
I don't know much about Rangers.... but It looked like it should clear 35s with that lift.
Nice guy. Pretty truck. I'm just confused as to why they told him 6 inches.
I told him no way I would wheel with a 6 inch lift.
Especially out here. I was getting big time pucker factor at 23 degrees of tilt and I cannot Imagine doing that in a 6 in lift.
I don't think I would go over 2.5-3 on the Gladiator. And that would be running 37s.
Always was taught be as low as you can with bigger tires and let it flex over things. Low center for gravity.
IF I am out of line....I will stand corrected.

It was pretty. But I was not about to say.. "hey...let me get a pic and then post it here"
Guy was nice. It was pretty. I just don't get why some shop would talk him into a 6in lift.
Next time I'll take a pic all like James Bond style.

No pic of inferior rig?

Maybe 6" (or more šŸ˜) is ok if you're running the Sippi Hole.......

I donā€™t see how itā€™s possible to even lift an IFS 6ā€. Most stock systems max out at 3ā€ as far as I knew. Maybe he got new control arms and the rest to make it happen. Now he has a ranger raptor?

now Iā€™m going to waste time googling this. Thanks a lot.

it was hella tall. Towered over my jeep. Guy even bitched about being 48 and having to climb in it. Now I wish I took a pic.

Not sure if itā€™s what he had installed. But his shop insisted he go 6in lift.

My friend has a Grand Cherokee SRT and while in for service had a Ranger loaner. What a piece of tin nothing. Rattle box, and paint chipped with the lightest tap against the pylon at the gas station. Oscar the Grouch garbage can.

Well I'll not sling mud on a 6in lift depending on what your doing with it. But on a non solid axle vehicle not something I would do. I don't think the Ranger's IFS is heavy duty enough for tires to go with that.
For rock crawling it was common, my XJ is lifted around 6-8 in range I ran 33s and could dang near drive up a wall or over a car with it. Part of the way to over come break over angles and high centering..... Hmmm a small problem for our JT's again. ;) but designed to fit 35s at stock height.

Since Ford will be shipping Rangers with a 2" (or less) front lift and 32s, I would go out on a limb that you don't need 6" for 31s. It comes on 31s. No matter. Once Bronco part commonality starts trickling over to the Ranger, there'll be some cool setups- like a cheap ranger with Squatch suspension and even 4.70 gears and front locker.
