New to changing tire sizes. The Max Tow has the wider Dana 44s (4.10). Can I move from the 245/75 R17 to 285/70 R17 with no change to the stock rims or any rubbing? etc.

What about a 315/70 R17?

I dont want to do any lifting, regearing or anything. Want to keep everything else same including stock rims.

If you can find someone with Mojave or rubicon take off wheels and tires they make a huge improvement over the stocks on the max tow, they are 285/70r17s

I put Rubicon take-offs on my Max Tow. They are 285/70r17 and are fine. I did program the computer for the slightly larger tires with J-scan.
I was going to buy tires and put them on the stock rims but I could literally buy complete Rubi take-offs for less than buying just the tires.
Here is a pic of the tires on my JT before I installed the Mopar lift.

you loose tow capacity in relation to the increase in tire diameter. So if you increase your tire diameter by %10, you will loose 760lbs of towing capacity. Not to mention the extra power needed to move larger / heavier tires. Just keep that in mind when tire shopping.

If towing is your main use, like it is for me, the oem 245s are fine. I currently have 255/75/17 Bridgestone Dueler ATs (bronco take offs) on mine and I think that is perfect. The 245s have a weight rating of 112, where the 255s have a rating of 115. I like know that I have the extra capacity of the tires despite not necessarily needing it.

Same rule-of-thumb I used when I went with Mopar lift and 35s. Opted not to fit 37s at the time because I tow a 5,500lb 21ft boat across the desert, but it handled that so well I'm reconsidering. Even had the confidence to buy a 6,000lb+, 25ft travel trailer which I hope won't be an issue even with 35s and stock 4.10 gears. Definitely not going to win any races, and a little buzzy at 4K RPM up steep hills, but seems to do fine - I'll post a thread with how that goes!
Definitely planning a re-gear to at least 4.88's, possibly an air locker rear when warrantee expires in 18 months. Feels a little like it's playing tug-of-war with high heels on right now.

I am thinking the same thing as I do tow on occasion. My question is how are the rear springs with the 2" lift kit. I kept my rear springs when I added the rubicon shocks and springs (frt) to keep the progressive springs on the rear.

Thinking of a 2" Lift, but do not want to totally destroy my towing capability. Are there Air Bag Supports or other items to help when doing a lift?

I did the rubi take offs as well. And have been very pleased with the change. I did also add the teraflex 1.5" front level, but that is not necessary for the take offs on stock max tow.

how are the rear springs with the 2" lift kit.
They're fine. It squats a lot under load, but nothing you can't fix with a WDH or bags. I've towed with loaded bed and 600lbs on the tongue with no bottoming or stability issues. The Fox rear shocks tend to be a little bit "floaty" though. Planning to replace those with adjustable double-tube shocks for more damping when I need it.

That is what i was looking to here! Definitely use a WDH, was thinking bags as well if you get into the 6500lbs plus range.

THANKS!!
