Wondering if anyone had this issue before:

I'd taken my hard top off and driven my Jeep for a little bit this morning. After a few hours, I needed to go out and when I put it into reverse, the screen was solid blue ("blue screen of death"?). As I started driving, the stereo would play for approx. 3-seconds and cut out for 3 seconds, over and over. I turned it off and back on a few times and nothing changed. I looked at the backup camera while driving and all I got was the blue screen. I stopped at the hardware store and when I started it up again, everything is fine.

I have the 8.2 Radio & premium audio group, Any one ever had this happen to them?

Just thought I'd update if anyone is interested. I took my rig to the dealer yesterday and they called me today saying that they would need to replace the "Radio Unit". I guess the problem was more than just a software glitch. I'll have to take it back when the new part arrives.

Well, here I am almost 2-months on and I just got my jeep home from the service department with a new radio.

The word was that the radio wasn't an item FCA stocks so they had to order it from the manufacturer. I'm a patient guy and I'm not really making any statements one way or another but wow. it's been a while. Also, before anyone asks, no I haven't been without my Jeep for 2-months, only a couple of days. I guess it took just a few hours but because work obligations, I had to leave it for 2-days.

Oh, and I couldn't pass up an opportunity to post a pic of my rig.

I wanted to update this thread in case anyone else is having similar issues. The bottom line is that it's not fixed!

Okay, Iā€™m now 3-week on from my new radio installation and Iā€™m having issues. I just returned from my local jeep service department and here are the issues and what they said about them.
  • I no longer have a Userā€™s Guide app available. I click on the app and it just tells me it is unavailable and I should check back later.
    • The service department says it is a Uconnect issue and I should continue to wait and it will be available soon.
  • The original issue that started all of this happened again yesterday morning as I was heading for work. My screen was totally blue instead of getting the backup camera and when I put the transmission in drive, the music turned off and on in a 3-second cycle.
    • The service department says this is also a Uconnect issue and per a memo dated early September, ā€œthe engineersā€ are working on a software fix.
  • Now, all of a sudden a few days ago my Sirius Radio quit working.
    • I contacted the folks at Sirius and they verified that my trial membership is valid until February and sent a ā€œrefresh codeā€ to get it working again. I had the code sent several times and nothing changed.
    • I contacted the folks at Uconnect and they say they are working on it.

The bottom line is that I am now being told that replacing the radio was a waste of time! Iā€™m being told that it has now been diagnosed as a software issue. I have been working with a case manager at Uconnect and hope to have something worked out soon.

It happened again this morning: As I put it into reverse, the screen was totally blue (no backup camera) and when the music came on is cycled off and on.

Here's a video of the issue
(it sounds like I'm moving but I'm sitting in reverse with the top and doors off in the wind - lol)

I don't think anyone is following this thread, except for the Jeep cares people (thank you btw) but I figure I'd post an update in case there is anyone that has this issue and finds this thread while searching.

Even after the radio swap and supposed software upgrade, the issue still remains. On Oct 20th, I backed out of my driveway and it happened again. I pulled back up the drive and started filming just so I'd have a record. I contacted the Uconnect folks who got their "Stat Team" as they call them as well as the dealer service department and took my rig in last week. I picked it up yesterday and they said they swapped out the back-up camera and harness. They found a kink in the harness so they are now "sure" they have found the problem.

I guess time will tell.

I always hate it when someone makes a thread looking for help and then they disappear. It makes people wonder if the problem got resolved or not. Well, in the interest of anyone that may come across this problem in the future.

Well, it looks like I've hopefully gotten my problem resolved. Their last ditch effort to fix this was to replace the backup camera and wiring harness (they said it was kinked). This happened back in mid November and it's been trouble free ever since. Time will tell but I think it's fixed!
