Did anyone see that jeep is now offering half doors with no uppers as a $3000 add on now? That's a lot lower than they are charging for the door with the premium uppers, and if I were in the market for a new gladiator, I'd definitely buy that option. They now offer a less expensive base option for the uppers as well.

Anyway, for Christmas, I got skins for my smittybilt tube doors, which will turn them into half doors. Unfortunately, I can't use them for several months (winter), but I'm excited! We used to have half doors on our old jeep in the summer, and I miss the half door feel. I'm going to pick up a set of manual JL/JT mirrors, since the smittybilts are compatible with the stock mirrors. Them, voila- a set of half doors for fronts only $400 (tube doors) + 230 (door skins) + whatever these mirrors cost if I decide not to keep using my trail mirrors. I only have front tube doors, so basically double that for all 4.
I know there are a lot of half door haters out there, and I hate them too for the price jeep charges for the full kit . But at the $630 I'm in so far, It's palatable.

You also must buy a bed cover to get the half doors. It’s petty, but made me pass on the 1/2 doors.
Glad that I didn’t get them now that I see the top alignment of the rear door to body.

The bed cover requirement is because they ship the half doors in the bed. It's the same with the dual top group. I'm not seeing the alignment as a problem. If they were any taller, they'd be too tall to be half doors, So I do like the factory design, just a bit expensive for the premium uppers

I had seen where they need a place to hide the extra doors.
The rear doors could stay the height they are but taper up at the rear of them to meet the body line. The front doors taper down from the front the same way

I guess but honestly, they'll never cater specifically to the JT. The market just isn't there. I don't think anyone will bother making JT specific doors. It would be nice though. I'm glad the Wrangler stuff fits, even if the bodylines aren't exactly the same, because otherwise we'd get nothing.
