This would be cool if it opened up to a tent like this:
So I really like this idea. What if we took it a step further.
1. made it modular. This way it could serve multiple functions
2. Make the windows and hatch removable so it would function like a pickup
3. Make hardside attachments. This way you can get a full use out of the bed cap when necessary.
4. Make the tent extend from the hatch. this would give plenty height for camping.

How about a hardshell bed cover

Loving the flexibility and looks... Only problem being that a 5ft bed isn't long enough for spending the night in that tent.

agreed, you need to open the tail gate and have the tent extend an additional 18 inches, also need to seal the space between the bed and open tailgate to keep the misquotes out.

It is if your cabin is open into the back seat.

Well, that looks a bit claustrophobic...also fails to provide enough height for...well, “entertainment”

That would be like sleeping on top of the tonneau cover. Or is that what you intended.

Good Beginning ! Ursa Minor RTT's guru has hinted at a "Top" for the Gladiator - my guess is not till 2021 ? But I see it more as a "basic" Truck-bed Slide-in" Camper style, with a partial roof overhang, so that the sleeping quarters (up Top) will be ~ 7+ feet long with the top opening up similarly to the current JK/JL RTT. Gonna be $$$$ too, I'm guessing $9K to start and up to $14K with the bells & whistles !? Hey but still less expensive than a "traditional truck bed slide in (RV) Camper with the bells & whistles !
My original idea - for the Gladiator - add a hard shell CAP or a hard shell tonneau with a "tent" velcro'd on . Open up, with tail gate down, you have your 6 1/2 feet of floor space (to sleep). Roughly like this I've shown before >

If I need more storage - I keep things OFF the roof, by using my hitch mounted STOWAWAY2 (dot com). Shown here on my old truck

It's also on the G.C. but the table is in the way

If you look carefully - the black area just above the tan plastic bag handles . In this case similar use as on the truck . For the tent and inflatable raft and anything else that would get wet & muddy.

Claustrophobic? Seems like a mansion compared to my bivy sack.

It is, that is one of my go to places. Trailhead is only a few hours drive from my home. Some of the other pics were much bigger trips. I didn’t take the pictures, one of my buddies is the photographer not me.
