This is a LC 79 Series on our trip last year to the Kalahari.
IMHO the JT will be every good as this venerable rig and that what I hope to Use it as...
PS that is not me but a friend from Switzerland...

How do you choose overlanding destinations? Was this a guided deal or a long roady? ....

A little bit of both..
We went with www.gekoexpeditions.com for a while and had a great time.

We are actually all getting back together at the end of April and going to explore Namibia which has the oldest desert in the world..
We rent our trucks through www.bushlore.com

So I really like this idea. What if we took it a step further.
1. made it modular. This way it could serve multiple functions
2. Make the windows and hatch removable so it would function like a pickup
3. Make hardside attachments. This way you can get a full use out of the bed cap when necessary.
4. Make the tent extend from the hatch. this would give plenty height for camping.

This is fantastic for multi functional use.

It is if your cabin is open into the back seat.
Good Point and nice solution for the sleeping accommodations IF the rear glass were removable - only in the soft top (I think) . JEEP needs to (again I say) make the rear glass widow removable like the side windows of the JL . *If that means no slider or no wiper or no heating coils, so be it !

That would be like sleeping on top of the tonneau cover. Or is that what you intended.
So many other options there, including that idea, with one of those hard aluminum frame rollups or folders !

I should've known better than to doubt the maestro at his work!!
This is DOABLE - A.R.E. or any of the other CAP & Tonneau makers should take note, it they haven't already made some notes !?

Hey @Bobs85Reny, saw this canopy today, got a couple photos, looks like you can take the topper off without taking the canopy off.

I think they are two separate pieces. That is a unicover cap... It would have to slide backwards to be removed, I think...
It'd be a great idea, but I'm not sure that one does what we hope.

The utility rack looks like a wider version that was just fit well to that truck so the cap could fit... speculation, wild speculation....
The label on the passenger side of the rack is not clearly visible, wish I could get the manufacturer...

Claustrophobic? Seems like a mansion compared to my bivy sack.

NO "entertaining" in that ! A 2 person SWAG on the other hand ? Kodiak Canvas makes these as do the Aussies !
SO, are YOU the handsome rugged fella with the "rough beard" ? Or do you wish to remain incognito ? If I ever would of "won a lottery" I'd be doing the Camping, Worldwide with an emphasis on fly fishing locals ! NICE PICS !
