I need help with a brand new gladiator rubicon that I bought which came with a bunch of scratches. I've had it in to them twice and they've fixed most of the minor ones but have told me they won't fix the worst ones. This is here in Gresham Oregon @ the Gresham CDJR.

@JeepCares is how you want to contact them. You can send them a PM. Why won't the dealer fix them?

Because they are too deep and they would have to repaint instead of just buffing. The don't want to pay the bodyshop.

Did you point them out before signing the papers?

It wasn't even in town when I signed the papers. They wouldn't ship it to me until I did.
Was it a dealer transfer?

As to JeepCares here, do not get your hopes up, they will feign false sympathy and side with the dealer most times than not.

Not trying to dog pile on you, but signing those papers before taking physical delivery really put you on the back heel of this issue.

My wife is dying of brain cancer so I couldn't leave her alone as I'm her primary caregiver. They sent their salesman to my house to sign for it. They told it had a spray in bedliner but it came without one when they brought it to my house. They brought it to me because my son who owns a major restaurant down town stopped for a few minutes so I could get my truck. Then they told me they would have the liner sprayed in after a week went by and that the scratches would get fixed at the same time. The liner was great when I went to pick it up three weeks later but the main scrathces were still there plus a few new ones. They had me bring it in again yesterday and told me they would all be fixed. When I got there the worst ones were still there and they told me they couldn't do any more for me.

I bought mine on dealer transfer. I picked it up and drove their transfer to the dealer and mine back. I spent 2 hours looking it over before I left the pickup dealer. Most don’t realize the dealer will be ok with you picking it up if you ask.
Having you sign before they did the deal was shady. I had bank approval before they would transfer but I didn’t sign anything til they prepped it.

My sympathies about your wife.

With what you said, it sounds like you have more of a dealership issue than a corporate issue of how the vehicle was made. I doubt if Jeep Cares can get into this too much.

Not a lawyer, but is sounds like you may need to retain one or look into your state consumer protection law and if your AG has any consumer fraud or protection enforcement and see if you have means through them to get this settled.

I was a lawyer but didn’t do consumer matters much, but every state has a form of the Warranty of Merchantability, which basically says something sold should operate and appear in a reasonable condition. I’d be glad to do a civil complaint for you that you could forward to Jeep Cares and the dealership and maybe they’ll realize defending it will cost them $5k and painting it would be the cheaper option.

They said they couldn't disclose of the location they were getting the truck from. I wouldn't have been able to leave my wife long enough to drive there anyway. I was trusting them because they knew my wife is sick. I guess they didn't care about that at all. We're not from here. Our son brought us here because there are no specialists in Montana to help her.

To that dealership, you were just a business deal they could bend and break the rules to take advantage of. We no longer live in a world were trust can be taken for granted that people will do the right thing, especially when there are large sums of money involved.

Hopefully you can get it sorted.
