Has anyone ran this? I'm kicking around the idea of planning a run this fall. I've heard anywhere from 1-3 days to run the trail, I'm hoping I could do the whole thing, including the 7 hour drive up and back, in a weekend or a Friday-Sunday at worst

Lastly, how is the camping/parking at the front of the trail? The guy coming with me has an RV that he could tow his WJ with; could that be parked at the trailhead anywhere?

Never had a Jeep there but numerous times on ATVs and SXSā€™s. Camping at the start of the trail is no problem and yes, in a Jeep, 3 days would be the best in my opinion. Depending on how the day goes either spend the night before taking the dug way up onto the Grey Mesa or spend the night around the chute. Leave the camp and make the trek to the end and then come back to the camp for the night. Take your time and do some hiking off of the beaten path and when you get the the end of the trail (Cheese Camp) make sure you hike towards the lake where they made their way up the trail. The rocks are still stacked and there is even some cable left from when they made the Trek. If you like to read, take some time and read the book called The Undaunted and then you will really appreciate the history of this country even more. You will not regret making the trip!! If you have more time to spend in this area it has some of the most rugged and scenic spots around. I would not recommend going before first to middle part of October unless you love the heat and the bugs.

Camping in an RV would be no problem?

I love that area of Utah so much. I was coming back from Idaho last week and I went down through Utah instead of Nevada simply so I could drive the 20 and 89 back into AZ. I really need to spend some more time in that Virgin River area and Kanab and stuff.

Thanks for the advice on time- I'm thinking November or December even

Tougher Obstacles Especially near the End. First 10 Miles Piece of Cake, Then one Off Camber Down Hill section, Then 5 Miles of Bumpy Rough Road, Then when you Inter Marble Canyon the real Fun Begins. Down Load the Map for GAIA before you go Real easy to lose your way

6 Gladiators and a Wrangler just ran HiTR last weekend 4/21-4/23. Would agree that after Marble Canyon, the fun begins. Come prepared, extra gas, and a winch as it can be a challenge, especially if it rains. A hitch skid will help take punishment off your rear bumper. A competent spotter will make all the difference on the tricky stuff.

It was truly an amazing trip. In my opinion, the three days we took to do it is the minimum if youā€™d like some time to relax at camp. We couldnā€™t have had a better group of people on this trip.
