Installed a Holley Intech cold air intake last week. I chose this particular intake based on research of other brands and the fact that it really does look OEM once installed. Haven't noticed a huge change in fuel economy, but definitely very throaty when you punch it and a very noticeable increase in power.

I had been interested in that Holley intake too... I have been going back and forth on if it was worth the coin or not.

What gains and how does the banks sound? Always heard good things from them.
I flew jets for years...you’ll have to tell me how it sounds! In reality just adds a low rumble but it does run faster. Mine is over a second faster to 60, not the reason I installed it...I needed more torque.

Do you think it added more torque? For pulling?
according to their testing 30 hp, 25 more torque. I’ll be pulling my beetle in for valve adjustment on Tuesday, I’ll see if there are any gains mpg etc. then.

do you feel like you gained more torque and horsepower ?? Their claims are justifiable?

I'd love to see some dyno graphs on that. If that's true the factory air box must be very restrictive.

Holley posts their graphs... I have been trying to get in touch with banks.
I'm talking about independent dynos. Manufacturers can take liberties with their advertising.

what did you find?
Sounds GREAT! Bad news is it sounds so fantastic when your foot is on the floor...is that my foot has been lead lined as of late. Feels quicker off the line also. Installation was simple, though the Banks booklet was hard to follow due to dark photos (line drawings would have been clearer). Took 30 minutes to get it installed. I’m taking her to the farm on Friday, so I’ll report any mpg gains. The oval air cleaner is HUGE!

I just went to their site and looked at the graphs. They're pretty much meaningless. The before and after graphs were taken 4 days apart at different times of the day. You don't know what the ambient temperature was, relative humidity, engine temp or even if they were running the same octane fuel both times. Was the stock air cleaner clean or dirty? Too many unknown variables to make the before and after graphs valid for comparative purposes.
