Talking about stock wise I had a rental F150 4×4 that had difficulty in my driveway (had to put in 4wd and still wouldn't drive up it) I've not had any with my Max-Tow. To give you a idea of how messed up my driveway was there is over 30 80 lbs bags of concrete to fill one rut with a bunch of rocks too. The stock AT tires are craptastic "second flat" but I'm going to wear them out and the JT tires on rims in my shed before I change tires. But being I'm driving the hell out of it, it's not long to go.

Patiently waiting for my Sport S Max tow W/ SelecTrac to show up. Just curious how capable off road it would be with some 33s on it? I'm coming from a 2010 Tacoma Trd Sport.
With mud terrains it is VERY capable. I kept up with a 4Runner on 33s and a lift.

I came from a modified TRD Off Road and my Sport S in stock form with 35s was equally as capable. The only issue is the wheelbase and getting hung up occasionally but otherwise I just roll through sections that took careful lines to not get crossed up in the Taco.

Not trying to derail the topic, but we don’t get a ton of snow here in TX, but I’m considering a family trip to Colorado over Christmas break and don’t know the first thing about driving in snow. I’ve got 33” A/Ts. would that even work? I’ve still got the stock 31” all season tires that I could switch back if necessary, but I’d rather just sell them ASAP.

The tires are the trick all-terrain are not good for snow. I learned this when I moved to MT Hood, OR a few years ago. My Best suggestion is a Mud terrain with Sipped Tires...OR Chains. Again A/T’s for me in Snow and Ice Sucked.

Get some Nokian Studded tires. Everyone swears by them up here in the great white north.

I live in the Western part of Canada on the prairies and I can't say I know a single guy thats run the nokians other than for trailer tires. Came from the HD truck scene before getting the Gladiator so take this for what its worth up front. But, I ran a set of toyo M55 (commercial grade tire) studded on my Duramax for winters in a 255 85 16 E range 10 ply. They were awesome compared to other tires id ran. Also ran General grapplers in a 265 70 18 that did alright and 285 70 17 BFG TAKOs that were close too. I felt like the M55's did the best though. Again heavier truck and used both while towing and not mostly city driving and not spe ific to wheeling in snow but used during deep falls when we grta foot or 2 at a time everydo often in winter. Stricly for wheeling I can't comment though. And yes I know Im responding to an old thread

That’s an interesting take and experience. Everything I have been told about snow traction is that AT’s are better all around vs an MT which usually isn’t rated for snow and ice.

The SelecTrac with the wet clutch up front will be the Achilles heal. It will overheat of you push it too hard off-road but will be fine on road.
