So it seems there are 2 main options for carrier bearing spacers. There’s the Rockjock @ roughly 3/4” and Rock Krawler @ over 2”. I see a lot of people recommend installing one to help with pinion angles post lift but my question is which one is the best option for a 3.5” lift?
I haven’t installed the lift yet so I’m trying to accumulate as much of the things I’ll need to make everything work as it should before I start installing it all. I’m not sure how much spacer is needed for this much lift. Does anyone have a scientific method to figure this out?

I have a Rock Krawler 3" lift, I went with their big spacer.
Set their rear upper arms to the length they specified (lowers are a fixed length) and when I was done and all the tires on the ground the pinion was where it was supposed to be.

I spoke to a rock krawler tech when ordering the 3" silverback system as i have a 3/4" spacer on now and this was his response:

Our drop bracket is not required until 4.5" of lift. A smaller drop bracket can be beneficial for 3" kits. Our drop is too much for the 3". Our drop is 2 3/16 inch so if yours is a little less I would leave it.

I have the Clayton 3.5" springs in the rear. Got about 4" of lift. Using the Rock Jock spacer. With the control arms adjusted to the Clayton specs. Everything looks fine.

I have the AEV full suspension upgrade with about a 3” lift. I went this route because everything was designed to go together.

The kit included 3 shims which amounted to about 1, 1/8” total

Thanks for everyone’s responses. Now I’m wondering how do you know if you have too much spacer?
I’m going with the Clayton Overland+ 3.5” and given that I won’t have a bunch of added weight I’ll likely get a little more than 3.5”. I saw both spacers on sale at Northridge this morning. Is it bad if I go with the larger Rock Krawler one?

Non issue- gotta think some dudes ditch the two piece rear driveshaft in favor of a single…. Which to me if you are flexing enough to justify a single piece your in the big leagues anyway….

Im at 3” rear and have the rockjock. No noise before or after- just thought the spacer couldent hurt anything, and might help with the bearing life 🤷‍♂️

I just bought a billet full width Spicer spacer new from an ebay seller.

It says 2" or more and Ill go with them on the info as they are the OEM supplier. In my case I ordered the Accuair Suspension and it can go as high as 5.5" at 25MPH or -X.X" .

Also worth noting is I rear shocks also play a roll. I forgot the number but around 28" or more so overall length.

Thanks, that is very helpful.
One question though, how thick is the Spicer? I didn’t see dimensions in the description.

I have the the Spicer and it's 1" inch thick.

Edit: It's also pretty easy to make one out of some square T6 aluminum stock. Just cut to length and drills 2 holes.

Glad someone mentioned the 1" I would have posted as soon as I received.
