So I'm looking at getting a Gladiator and I'm wondering what size lift and tires I can fit and still clear my 80" garage door opening. I know this is a complicated issue with lots of variables including whether or not I will enter my garage flat or at an angle.

What I need from you is information! Specifically if you've lifted your Jeep please give the following information:
  • Overall height measured to the highest point to the best of your ability (I understand soft tops might be hard to measure)
  • Jeep Model (Sport, Overland, Rubicon)
  • Hard top or soft top? If soft top is it factory or aftermarket?
  • Lift kit (brand and listed lift height eg: EVO 2.5")
  • Tires (brand and size eg: 37" Cooper STT Pro)
  • Steel front bumper or other significant weight additions?
Thanks for your help!

Yep I was gonna' say, mine is lifted on 35s and I can open my Sunrider and still have plenty of room to clear a 7-foot parking garage entrance.

Funny story, I wasn't planning on looking at Jeeps until next year but due to the only parking garage that I can fit my F-250 in the city for work closing down and the open lots available being exceptionally dangerous in DC at 5 a.m. when I'm walking in the dark, moved the time line up significantly.

So the better half and I go and test drive the Gladiator and after discussing it over the next day, we decide to pull the trigger. I put the deposit down and immediately had them put it in the shop to put the three and a half inch lift on along with 37-inch tires on 20 inch wheels. Better half looks at me shaking his head saying "remember, you need this to fit in the new parking garage with the lower clearance" which is 81 inches. With a huge smile I said it'll be fineeeeee, I'm sure it's going to fit! (I really had no idea!)

Now, I have a Sport S, not a Rubicon, the latter having a higher clearance and I have the premium soft top. As I was driving back from Virginia to Tennessee to pick it up five days later I began panicking about what the height was actually going to be... Began second-guessing going to the three and a half inch lift versus the 2 and 1/2 and the 37s instead of 35s....

But it was meant to be, alas my height comes in just a hair over 80" and my baby fits comfortably in her new garage!

it's a beautiful thing when you get to the point of contemplating an on-board air system so you can add more lift/tires, and then air down for clearance...:LOL::LOL:

I'm embarrassed to admit this but I actually don't know for sure the manufacturer. I did validate though that it was approved by Jeep to not negate my warranties (which apparently it had just been recently approved). I've shot the question off to my shop to get the answer for both of us but I have to wait till he comes back from the Jeep show, lol.

And here are two pics of it, the first one was with the two and a half inch lift and 35s with wheels I didn't care for and then I had them change it out to the three and a half inch lift with 37's and wheels I preferred...

Your shop led you to believe there is an actual list of “approved” lifts? Send some pics of the lift components and we can probably tell you what you have.
