Spent a week in a Wagoneer L with the 420hp I6. Holy flat torque curve. That big SUV was damn near spry. Plus I crossed the Nevada desert at 90 and got 18mpg.
I'm not sure why I don't we don't see people putting them in Gladiators yet. Google doesn't show much. The dimensions aren't a problem, it looked tiny under the hood and a quick search has them near the same length and definitely less wide.
I've driven supercharged HEMI gladiators and they are so heavy. This would seem to be an optimal solution.

My guess as to why we don't see many swaps is most Gladis are still new enough that they are likely still under some type of warranty. That and I can't imagine too many hurricanes can be found in junk yards or anything.

Uncommon motor swaps do not have as many supporting parts. For example, motor mounts, cooling hoses, etc. You're stuck figuring out what works, where to find it, or how to make it.

I swapped a 4.7L V8 from a WJ to a TJ. I should've listened to everyone asking why I was doing it. I had to make the motor mounts. I had to make the wiring harness. I never figured out cooling hoses that routed well. It took forever.

I believe the problem is engine to transmission to transfer case and the real estate available either isn't enough or doesn't match up.
If there is a space problem, it’s with the motor.

They put the 8HP75 behind the Hurricane, so transmission and t-case could be Gladiator parts.

Probably getting close to the same torque out of the deleted 3.0 diesel. 300+hp and 500+tq (#2 tow tune).

I had a Wagoneer for a week recently too. I loved that thing and the I6 was really nice. I'd like to sample the high output version.

Its a packaging and cooling problem. Its longer than the 392 and has higher cooling requirements with the turbos. Its just easier to stuff the V8's in than the hurricane and the cost is about the same.

Hopefully Jeep adds it as a motor only option not some 50k upcharge 392 version like the wrangler.
That's one reason why I'm hesitant to buy a new gladiator, I feel like the used market will really plummet if that's the case.

Probably cheaper to just buy a ram with the hurricane and toss the doors and cut off the roof.

Last I saw there was definitely a size problem, plus it’s doubtful it would get adequate cooling.
From what I have read, possibly on here, also possibly a fabricated story, is the whole redesign of the '24 grills on the Wrangler and Gladiator was to get more air in for the I6. 🤷‍♂️
