They literally fired hemi production back up...and moved it back to the US from Mexico but you're telling me they won't make changes based on this administration?
Hemi production never stopped, Tavares just talked about it. And they had to move the 5.7 and 6.2 production somewhere since they converted the Mexico plant to make the Hurricane. The 6.4 is still made in Mexico.

What makes you think they did all of this because of rumored epa and CAFE changes?

Question for you -
When was production moved back to the US?
I ask because - Gladiator 3.6 engines starting in 2023 for the 2024 model year, well before any "election" were made in the US.
So it was really a decision either made in the same vein as the Simpsons - they knew something, or, there were other reasons.
I tracked multiple window stickers for the 2024 Gladiator while I was looking around a year or more ago and they all had the engine as coming from the USA, no longer Mexico.
The move was made in 2023 for the 3.6
But maybe someone at FCA was watching the Simpsons and saw some signs.
Hemi production moving to the dundee Michigan plant, not sure what that has to do with the 3.6L?

You said it moved from Mexico to the states - as if perhaps that was something to do with current events having some impact on where it was produced.
I said - when did this happen -

Because they also moved the 3.6 up here from Mexico, long before current events could have any impact at all on where it was produced.

And they had to move the 5.7 and 6.2 production somewhere since they converted the Mexico plant to make the Hurricane.
OK, that explains the move - perhaps even the move of the 3.6 to the states in 2023, not just the move of the hemi.
Nothing to do with anything other than the need for someplace to produce the I6.

Could simply be coincidence and/or the CEO change that took them from ending 5.7L and 6.2L production to moving it to MI but it sure aligns crazy well with the current administration and benefits Stellantis a whole lot if/when the tariffs on foreign parts goes into effect. I don't buy that it's unrelated.

Yes, it's well known that Tavares was really the only one calling for an end to the V8s. The rest of the board was against it, so it's not surprising when they pushed him out they also said "we aren't ending the V8"

It just makes sense to move the production of your main powerplant to Mexico and bring the older lower production engines back to the US where you can get an extra $2k out of the "Made in America" crowd. The engine will still be hit by the tariffs because most of the parts for it cross the borders multiple times, but now they have a great excuse to charge a V8 premium.

Just to be undone by the next administration. There is no way automakers are going make changes based on anything this administration does because they will just be changed back before the new vehicles can even start production.

It's the same reason EVs are coming whether you like it or not, they have invested billions in setting up the production, can't turn back now.
Nothing is going to be undone.

Sorry about the terminal diagnosis, how long do you have left?
Good Luck with the ‘electric vehicle’ take-over …. Our infrastructure isn’t anywhere near ready for it.

But…that’s a topic for another thread that’d probably get shut down quickly. 🤣

I wonder how many gas stations there were when they started selling passenger vehicles in the early 1900s? It's almost like the demand has to be there before anyone will invest in the infrastructure. I'd be willing to bet that fast chargers are more accessible right now than gas stations were in the 1930s. Not to mention aside from the Amish we can all fuel up an EV at home vs almost nobody with gas pumps at home. People act like it's going to be some flip of a switch where ICE vanishes and 30 million EVs appear tomorrow.

I know reading is hard, go back and read the post I replied to (which is why the reply feature exist because context matters)? The guy literally stated that his '77 nova made nearly 300hp...it was 145hp. Obviously nobody is swapping smog era garbage into a modern vehicle.
Yeah, I very well had my numbers wrong. Neither of my novas were particularly fast in the 1/4 mi, but they did alright by me in the top end.

Yeah, with the same old tired stuff just like out in the world where people can't let go of old worn out talking points that didn't work last year, either.
