Is it just me, or is the cruise control horrible?

Really NOT impressed with the cruise control. Especially in somewhat hilly environments, the speed varies +/- as much as 5mph from set point and the tranny does a lot of hunting.
Is this normal, or does my CC need dealer adjustment?

Mine does the same. I thought that having a diesel with the torque it wouldn’t hunt as much, but it does. I usually lock it out in 6th or 7th.
The wife’s 2.0 wrangler does it as well.

2024 - 8 speed auto here. Does the same - will downshift probably one too many gears and get the RPMS up way more than needed. I just did a 6hr drive this weekend and ended up putting it in cruise control and manually shifting. Not sure there is anything else you can do?

I'm with @JT1 on the CC... mine stays and holds where it's supposed to. Been to Utah twice now in the past 3 years, plus all over out here on the east coast... no problems.

My stays right where you set it. It does do a lot of gear hunting though.

Y'all must be driving gassers. My diesel doesn't but drop to 7th on the steepest highway. If I do choose I'll pull it into manual and it stays in 8th.

I can't say I've really had any issues. I'm also in Texas where it isn't too hilly though, but when I've taken it into the mountains, it's seemed fine.

You're the guy I pass, and then 5 minutes later passes me, then I pass, then 5 minutes later passes me, then I start to pass, and then he speeds up, and then I pass again...

Not normal at all. Mine holds speed pretty much perfectly. I’ve only seen +/-1 mph (frequent drives through the Appalachian Mountains).

Show your dealer tech a video of it because it shouldn’t be happening. Hell I don’t think mine changed that much even when towing with cruise on.

YEP, it sucks on anything other than flat land! Applies/burns the brakes on the downhill side if you don't watch it close too.
