Been doing research on here for a while, even posted another thread but didn't get any traction.

I finally decided to order my perfect Jeep, with the intention of getting the sky top for a few years then removing and putting on a hard top....I was placing my order and dealer told me it is a permanent fix in the Jeep and you CANNOT swap out because the rails are linked to the frame.

I have been getting mixed responses from different dealers, so I'm hoping yall can shine some light in the subject...I'm ready to go and finally join the club, but if the sky touch cannot be removed I'm not getting it....hoping it can but please let me know!

Hi! I ran into this same issue when ordering my JLU Rubi. After research came to the conclusion that the one touch sky top can NOT be removed similar the traditional wrangler hard top.

In numerous auto reviewer videos they have stated Jeep said to them it CAN be removed, but they donā€™t recommend it because itā€™s very difficult to line the rails back up. So I believe yes, it can in-fact be completely removed and replaced with the hard top or soft top

my goal would be to removed it permanently down the line, so not worried about having to line it up later

From the thread of the guy who INSTALLED a one touch, Yes, you should absolutely be able to remove it, but would require some trim parts over the windshield to install the standard hard or soft top. I have the one touch and confirm the body mounting holes are present for the hardtop but the trim above the windshield is completely different.

What others have said is true, it is not recommended to remove/replace the one touch as there is an alignment that must be done. The one touch top does not have side windows so I assume it can twist when assembled which would affect the alignment.

Under this scenario then yes, it can be completely and easily removed. Not sure if the hard top or soft top would line up and work with the windshield it it can absolutely be removed. I have one and have eyeballed it.

Donā€™t think Iā€™ll ever remove the windshield, can you please check out the rails?

Someone said you can remove it but the bar that supports it all the way to the back stays...but I think this is just part of the top

Thank you @GreyFox

@JeepCares please advise!
Hi trailchaser,
Per page 158 of the Owner's Manual, "The Power Top is non-removable. If desired, the rear quarter windows can be removed and stored in provided storage bags." Please feel free to send us a private message if you have any further questions!

IDK, maybe I am weird, but WTF would you get a $5000 top, just to replace it in a few years with a real JEEP top?
ohh and for those that do not know...A soft top is the real JEEP top.
Sky one Touch is an abomination and should have never been an option on a wrangler IMO.

Did the Liberty with that craptastic roof teach you people anything?

Ever seen a pic of a doorless, side windows out Jeep with the sky one touch?
If you think that looks good, I have a piece of doodie to sell you.

Sadly no.
Like most things in this life, the Sky One Touch Top will ultimately prove to be transient.
Ooommmmm....

Not permanent. You can take it off permanently in about 3 years when it's broken, out of warranty and leaks water like a woman in labor.
