Its been bone dry for me for 48hrs and the truck was sitting when I saw it. Haven’t had any problems or anything. I dont go off roading but I do tow. Haven’t pulled the camper in about a month.

While I was doing some lignt labor today I saw this ring of moisture around my rear drive shaft where it connects to rear axle. It felt a little like oil, but there was enough to be sure.

nothing around it was wet, just the part in the picture.

am i just a FNG and this is normal?

I'd say monitor it, make sure it doesn't get any worse.

I worked on race cars. $100,000 toys for $1000 purses. Despite all the attention we spent on making everything tight, matched, sealed, etc., there were always leaks. Bottom of the bell housing and bottom of the rear gear. Just the way it was. Every once in a while we'd get a bad A/N fitting that'd leak no matter what we did, so we just zip-tied a rag around it (no-budget racing has some hurdles to overcome).

I would take it in and show the dealer. It "could be" as bad as the pinion nut not tight enough. OR, bad seal / seal install.
