I have gained two new rock chips in the same spot. So I wanted to warn everyone so they can protect theirs before this happens to them. I'm now looking into a clear bra type protection for this area to protect the other hinges or possibly those covers.

Oh yeah... we have alot of gravel on our roads here. All 4 of mine are so chewed up with only 1500 miles on. Plus I just added 35x12.5 on 17x9 with only +1.I am grabbing some touch up paint and going over them and my bra guy said he would throw a small piece up. Also, before I got the bra on, I already had windshield surround chips. Ideally, it would go straight to the bra guy and get each of these areas done prior. That being said, I did buy a scratch and dent zeon winch because its on a jeep and I wanted to save the cash. So the couple of little chips under the bra isn't keeping me up at night. I didn't think the hinges would be a big deal because my JK after 7 years isn't bad. JT after 1500 miles is way worse there.

Justin, I have the same problem with both my JLU and JT, so I bought some 3m clear automotive tape and cut it to fit the hinges. Worked like a charm.

Protecting my hinges and rear fenders was one of the two major reasons I added the Mopar high performance rock rails on my LE. The other reason was to keep all of the road crap that the tires deposit on the doors. It is an added bonus that they are also used as a cab step. I drove my JK once in snow and slushy conditions and had to put my shoulder into the door to get out. There are several options available to prevent rock damage from the front tires.

I have a good chip on mine too. I need to get over to the dealer to get some touch up.

Can you guys post up info and links to the clear bra material you’re using?

Also, does anyone know about hinge protectors? I remember seeing some snap on plastic hinge covers but all I see on Amazon is bad quality questionable stuff with no recommendations

Ordered these last week and installed it. Didn't take long. It comes in a 4 pack, I did the four rear hinges, some in the front would help. Install wasn't hard, and the film is forgiving in that you can unpeel and realign. The look isn't bad, not perfect but better than chips and rust. I'll post pics tomorrow.

The precut film from R3...took like 10min to install. Hardly noticeable, well worth the price/look/trouble to install.
