I had been looking at bumpers and really didn’t see one in my budget that I was crazy about. I decided I just wanted a spot to mount some lights and improve the look of the stock front end.

With some minor modifications I was able to mount a JK light bar with the stock sport bumper. I also added the Rugged Ridge headlight guards. I’m pleased with the outcome!

The bar is made by Westin, but there is also a Mopar one. The Westin has a smooth finish and the Mopar has a hammered finish which I didn’t like as much..

That said, I think the Mopar is a little easier to mount. The brackets link up with the frame, just behind the tow hooks. The holes don’t line up. Just need to drill a couple holes to make it work.

It’s a super tight fit and I had to take off the bumper to mount.

I too had dreams of mounting them under... the way the bracket on the bar accepts the lights make it difficult. But it can be done, you would likely just need to extend the bolts on the lights or something.

As for space, you couldn’t fit any large round lights I don’t think.. maybe 6” lights., but it would be tight.. I can measure later and report back

Not worries about that bar rubbing on the paint? How do you feel the mopar bar would mount better?

Yep it might rub, in fact it did in a small spot.. I’m not too worried as first the grill is easily replaceable or repainted or touched up. I also don’t plan on removing the bar.

From what I know the Mopar mounts are a little slimmer and fit down in the opening a little better. Might be easier to mount and less of a right fit. I don’t have first hand experience with it, just from photos etc.

Just looking at my bumper i dont know how you would mount the mopar bar without cutting the plastic and it would kind of being a shot in the dark.

*anyone out there added the mopar bar to the sport bumper??

I guess I’m not following, the Mopar bar is nearly identical to this one. The guy who I got the idea from on Facebook used the Mopar one with no cutting.

A couple of thoughts, you don’t mean the Mopar bar that is made for Gladiators? That won’t work on the plastic bumper to my knowledge it’s made for the steel one.

Also, are you talking about the small plastic piece between the bumper and grill? It’s removable if so.

I think your right the westin looks a bit beefier i may follow suit here on my sport bumper. Maybe stick a little rubber patch where the bar rubs...how was the headlight mod and do u have a link?
Headlight bulbs or the guards? Bulbs were from the lighting forum in the LED thread... the guards are Rugged Ridge from Quadratec
