I bought the locks and bin from Benny here on the forum
I asked if he could get the locks keyed off my vin, and he told me the locks would need to be keyed by the dealer with a bagof tumblers/gates. ?

i know how to do it. Thanks though. What im trying to figure out is if the lock comes with enough tumbler gates or if those parts are unobtanium. Im at the parts counter now, and he is saying that it comes empty with the bag of gates and springs. If thats the case, then its simple.

since the glove box lock doesnt require a vin input, we’re guessing itll come with tumblers, which sounds like what your experience is?

Did the bin from Benny come with locks, or did the locks need to be purchased separately?

I can speak for the locking gas cap and the cylinder that comes with it. The gates and springs are included. If I recall correctly, there were 5 of each type included and a few spare springs. Unfortunately, I think that I threw my unused gates and springs into the trash once I was done.

I mention this because 1) I would guess that this would be the same for the cylinder that you are looking at, and 2) if not, it may be worth checking on whether the fuel cap cylinder is also a match

Finally, here is the video that I referenced for my rekeying https://www.quadratec.com/c/video/how-key-lock-cylinder-jeep-wrangler-jl-mopar-locking-gas-cap

Good luck!

Interesting...
Not all that much different than a traditional (pinned) key lock.
But only 4 positions for the wafers (tumblers/gates,) and only 4 wafers?

Great! What did the locksmith charge, if you don't mind me asking?
$70.00. I paid $200 or $250 for the box (I forget) and the cost for the cylinders which were from Allmoparparts. So I figure I got everything done for around $300-$350 which works for me.

I don't think the locksmiths, I contacted, wanted to mess with it. You would have thought that they would have drilled the cylinder out and replaced them. Most of them work out of vehicles and come to you, so I don't know if that is the issue.
Yea not sure the one I went to was a brick and morter shop. These guys handle anything. The car dealerships actually send to them for stuff like this or other lock related issues
