Yea, I understand how to read tire specs. My thought isn’t changed. 35” for a 285 would still be greater than any other 285 I shopped when I had them before upsizing to 315’s. The whole reason I went with 315’s was to achieve something closer to a 35. (I wanted some width too). If this 285 is really close to a true 35 then it just makes me aware that manufacturers vary more than I realized.
These are for an 18" wheel. A 285/70r17 is a 33. A 285/70r18 is a 34. A 285/75r17 is a 34. A 285/75r18 is a 35.

Most imperial 35s are 34.5s. The most common metric 35 for jeeps is a 315/70r17 which is a 34.36

a 285/75r18 is a 34.83, making it larger than "true" 35s

Has nothing to do with mnfr variances, it's just the math. 285*.75*2/25.4+18=34.83

did they send you price alett or anything-

How did you get that deal-
You just have to check daily, they come every once in awhile. Do a search for Walmart tire deals on here and you’ll see one every other month or so.

I had 285/75/18s on my f150 and it was about 34.2 under the truck. that's right around what most 35s

edit: these https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/cooper-discoverer-at3-xlt/p/36902

I liked them so much I starting using them on my entire work fleet. I got 85k out of a set on 5k rotations. the work fleet gets about 65k on them but they are towing or hauling constantly

Those are an E rated tire and the entire Jeep community minus me is going to stone you for suggesting them. They say that driving on solid rubber tires is more comfortable than E rated. I’m on my second set of Es ?‍♂ Just be aware ?

im not suggesting they go on a jeep just demonstrating that 285s can definitely be 35s. I only recommend C rated for Jeeps unless someone is Broverlanding in which case, D makes sense to some degree mostly for wear. as far as that goes on an f150 they ride great. touch more choppy but its a truck

Broverlanding ?

is that like having a bed rack with an RTT on top of it 365 days a year that you’ve only used once? If so, yeah I’ve seen a few of those guys lol

Ok, that makes sense and now I realize the reason I was confused is that I was evidently ignoring the fact these are 18’s and my brain was stuck on 17’s. Thanks for drawing me a picture. ?
