So I looked around and found plenty of room around the hood hinges for mice to get in the fresh air intake then inside.

Stiffing screen window screen in there now.

Diluted Mint oil in a spray bottle under the hood every week I heard from a thread here from 2019.

Where are theses little suckers getting in at?

Windows up, doors on.

My AC was volume was down on a 2 month old Gladiator so I pulled the cabin filter to find it was stopped up.

Hard bed cover top looks like a mine field.

Getting a cat.

Where can I screen them out?

Glue traps & peanut butter tonight.

Thanks in advance

pic of filter is after cleaning.

I've had the little vermin in mine as well, but I was doors off when it happened so I assumed that was the entry point. I could see their little footprints in the dust and they must have walked every inch of the interior.

I prefer snap traps to glue boards, but peanut butter is the ultimate attractant!

Since I see you are a Texan in the Hill Country too - Ringtails seem to be pretty good at mouse reduction. I had been fighting rodents in my barn and have noticed rodent activity go to zero since a Ringtail took up residence. Much better than having a cat!!

Good luck with killing the bastards!

I went three rounds with rats and my Tundra. Cost me thousands because they kept going for the main wire harness each time. Turns out the wires are coated in a wrap made of soy. Anyway, this is what eventually fixed my issue and guards the Gladiator to this day. Good luck, I tried everything.

I use pure peppermint oil in my camper on cotton balls, just found a nest under my hood and loaded up with peppermint

Man... I feel your pain. Had that in my Highlander and they did about $2K in EVAP damage due to chewing the wires. I left my JT out 1 night, and I had seeds and chewings on top of my battery.

Here is what I would do and it works great. Mouse bucket left next to your JT each night for about 2 weeks. Should get rid of the varmints for good.

What is a mouse bucket? I glad you asked!

you can get the rollers on Amazon for pretty cheap.

This happened when I bought my 2013 Focus ST. I swapped out my stock air filter for a open ended green filter a week after buying it and my stock filter was 10x worse than that.

YES!!!! X2! This works great. It doesn’t look like the mice are smart enough to figure out what happens, but the rats are smart and after a while they figure what it does. I hate those things! Never had an issue until they let chickens into neighborhoods with no regulations.

Years ago we had the 3rd Church’s Chicken drive thru in the nation next to our metal fabrication storage.

They would come inside the shop and eat customer’s car interiors.
Example was baby formula spilled on interiors. Alfa rats would not eat the poison so I used a .357 mag with rat shot.
Cement ceilings, I would quietly open the door & flip the lights on and start blasting the possum sized rats.

After a time a San Antonio police officer that lived in the neighborhood busted in his dress blues and yelled WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!

I set the gun down and quietly said shooting rats, Sir.

He looked at a white Cadillac with a blasted bloody rat on the roof and yelled...Well, you just keep doing it!

They are going to my mom’s house and tearing things up!

Get out of jail card in hand I stocked up on rat shot.

pic of the old shop my dad started coming up

I had mice and Pocket Gofers............until I got two female Calico's. one is always on patrol in the JT garage. no critters anymore. I hope you get it figured out so you can get back to the trails without worrying about anymore surprise damage. Good luck!

Another vote for peppermint. I dilute the 'essence oil' at about 8 drops in a quart spray bottle and spray under the hoods, wheel well, etc of all of my vehicles once a month. I've only had an issue with one vehicle, but an easy preventive measure, and heck they all smell good.

If you have had rodents, it is very important to clean all of their nesting materials and waste from the area. That attracts them and no amount of peppermint will counter that smell that attracts them back.

If you are baiting traps, I used a piece of walnut as the bait instead of the traditional peanut butter or cheese. That way if the traps are in place for a long time without a 'victim' the nut does not get moldy like peanut butter/cheese. I also use a very fine wire (a strand from picture frame hanging wire) to attach the nut to the trigger so the light-fingered Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible) version of the rodent family can not snag the nut without triggering the trap.

Mice in your vehicle is a pretty near normal thing during winters in New England. I have always used old prescription bottles, drill small 1/8 holes throughout, add moth balls and zip tie it near the air box. Never an issue again.

I like pill bottles as one can reload them and the lids stay on. Just make it accessible to push and twist.

In winter after adding new moth balls, if you turn on the heat, one may get a wiff. Small inconvenience.
