I spoke to Mickey Thompson direct, discount tire never called them even though they said they did. Disappointing with discount.

Mickey Thompson was very nice to work with just now, and emailed me asking for some info which I need to provide. Really appreciate the advice in here to just contact directly as it truly seems like discount tire was misleading me with info.
They suck. Glad you’re getting the support we’d expect you to from Mickey.

Good to hear you spoke with them, hopefully they can reimburse you for those tires or send you a brand new set with warranty! :like:

This is exactly how i feel, i'm trying to figure out why i'm the anomaly here hence this thread. Totally not bashing MT, just trying to figure out where my issue is. I'll be updating after talking to MT today. Appreciate the feedback!

fwiw, discount tire did tshoot and asked if i took my jeep over 160 MPH.. that made me giggle, I think i'll be getting better info when i talk to MT today.. lol
I think they are speed rated to 99 or 100 mph. So driving at a high speed for a long time at lower PSI can cause an issue.

I have these tires in the same size and love them so far (only ~5k miles on them or so). Let us know how this turns out !

I did get a split on one of my MT 255/85/17 on Monday. It was definitely from a trail impact in September, but didn't split until 2000+ miles after the impact, after we dropped to 50° from our normal 80°.

Last year had similar cracks on some Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires which were at only 2000 miles or so. Multiple tires. Something happened during manufacture. Got warranty for the three with issues. Swapped them all out for something else. Hope they get their act together some day soon. Nice tires otherwise.

Imagine how bad the damage would have been if you'd had a lesser tire.

Definitely not the MT fault. Mine for not noticing it until now. After looking though photos, I had swapped out 2 damaged lugnuts October 12, and there in the photo, bottom right I see the split. On Hamburger Hill, zoomed in, there's the split. That tire has done 2000+ miles since that impact, no loss of air.

Detective much? I’m impressed that you found the split in early pictures.

What size tire, and specific model? If these are 37x12.5x17lt Baja boss AT, they should not be run at 36psi. Not even close. 27psi cold is the recommendation for that specific tire. Different recommendations for other sizes. 30psi is the recommendation for 35x12.5x17. Where it’s over 40 for the pizza cutter 35’s @Mightytalldude runs.
Where is that recommendation? from who?

Call Mickey Thompson, they'll need your original tire info from the door tag, and they can tell you what pressure to run them. They told me 46psi, but I run them around 42. They're Load Range E, designed for full size truck dually applications, so they're higher than expected.

Directly from Mickey Thompson.
Its worth mentioning that the folks giving those reccomendations don't all seem to be on the same page. The last time this came up in the pizza cutter thread I relayed that I had also called and asked MT about my skinny 35s and they gave me different numbers. Then when talking to a MT quality control employee in person, that PSI reccomendation was different yet again. None of this is to say anyone is wrong, just that I don't know how much anyone should just blindly trust PSI reccomendations and not just do the tests themselves in a parking lot with some chalk.
