So I was offered 41k for my current Sport S (only factory options are hardtop, heated seats, aux switch group) with 5700 miles on it. I paid just over 39k when purchased new.
I'd remove all mods except the Rancho Leveling kit and custom exhaust (tonneau cover, wheels/tires, Alpine under seat sub/amp, PRP seat covers, iDrive, Tazer, etc...)

Love my truck, so only reason for trading would be to get wanted items I've yet to get (steel bumpers, Bit better suspension, factory LED's and 4.10 gears)

With that said, I'm looking at a 6spd Mojave, very stripped down in 3 colors (Sting gray, White, Snazzberry) for 40k or a similiar 6spd Rubicon for 40k (nacho and they only have that one that just came in).

Either of those will get me the 4.10 gears and a bit beefier suspension (along with some other things I don't care about)

But, then they unloaded 3 Freedom/Oscar Mike editions. Same price point (40k) but all 3 have auto/hardtop/steel bumpers/LED package.

So, I know anything can be replaced on a Jeep (why I love them) , but which way would you guys lean? Everything you want EXCEPT the 4.10 gears/suspension? Or just get a Majoave or Rubicon and add the nicer bumpers/lights/etc...?

(Nice) used car prices are insane right now. But that's next level.

Wait they will give you $41k for a used Sport S and then sell you a brand new Rubicon/Mojave/freedom edition for $40k? I know the Runi/Mojave are stripped down but why would they do that?
And lose money in the process, I'd bet. They'd have to figure a bit of cost associated with moving a truck they just took in......... why would anyone buy that used truck from them for 41K+ when they can buy a new one for that? Weird. Something's not adding up.

Honestly, Sold my BMW 440i yesterday for $5000 more than. I paid for it last year in may. Gave $28,000 for it last year and they gave me $33,000 for it at a KBB dealer. I almost sold it to Vroom for $30,000 and the dealership really wanted it and made a stronger offer. It had 27,520 miles on it and when I bought it last year it had 19,000 on it. The same dealership offered me $42,000 for Gladiator as it sits. First thing he asked me when I got out of it was is for sale and then 20 minutes later when he came in with the paperwork for the BMW he said I'll $42,000 on the Gladiator and we can get it done right now. I paid $37,200 out the door last February. Only thing they wanted me to keep everything on it, they wanted it as is. I have no interest in selling it because I want a Gator and I'm not trying to start over on a build but car prices are crazy right now.

I was at Hendricks this morning getting my oil changed and they had a used Ram TRX for sale in their showroom and when I say it was used it only had like 246 miles on it. The salesman's told me a guy bought it at auction and then sold it to them. They had it listed for $108,000, that's freakin nuts.

I don't doubt the $41k price for a Sport s but I'm wondering where your going to buy a Rubicon or Mojave for $40k at. The cheapest Rubicon around my area is $54k and Mojave are pretty much the same if you can find a Mojave.

Adding steel bumpers is a breeze. And much cheaper than re-gearing.

Used car market is nuts right now, so I’m not surprised.

IMHO I’d go with the Nacho Rubicon, but I might be biased.

As other have said, make sure the price for the new one includes everything (except possible state taxes). You just want to make sure there’s no dealer packs that’ll add significantly to the price you’re expecting.

The 41k offer is from Carmax :) They tend to be a bit high on their used cars so figured I'd give it a shot!

Nashville dealer. They have 3 at this price, but all MT, soft top, 7" radio...nothing extra. And the Rubicon is already gone :(

The trade in was from Carmax, not the Jeep dealer. I talked to them on the phone and it sounded legit, but you're right, always depends on what the paperwork says. But I'm 51 years old, so hopefully they don't think they're dealing with a kid :)

my mojave was like 42-43k out the door everything done.
Ive been fine with it being very base model. Keep in mind you wont get the upgraded alternator or cooling fan unless you get a package that adds it.
you can add heated seats, switch panels, bed outlets, class IV reciever, LED's and proximity locks yourself anyhow.

I'm leaning towards the Mojave (hood envy I think). I do a lot off offroad down logging roads, old fires service trails. You ever take your Mojave down washboard type trails? The suspension handle it well?
