Hello. Does anyone know the actual backspacing on the Movaje wheel yet?

From what I have read, the Mojave is more offset to the outside than the +44.45 of other JL and JT's. One press release said the wheels have 7.5 mm less backspacing, so that would mean 44.45 - 7.5 = 36.95 mm.

So when I convert mm to inches I come up with 1.455. This doesn't sound right. Normal backspacing is around 4.5 correct?

Yes, the Mojave has a higher offset due to t he different spring/shock mounting configuration on the front. I had heard it was -12 from standard. Would love to know for sure.

Offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel - a 0 offset wheel will have the mounting face in the center of the wheel. Offset does not depend on wheel width.

Backspacing is the mounting face measured from the inner edge of the wheel. 4.5" backspacing will tell you that the wheel will always sit in the same location relative to the inner fender regardless of the overall width.

Both of these numbers are useful in different situations but can make picking wheel specs more difficult depending on what you're used to and how individual wheels are measured and listed.

Weight of tire and wheel might be a important consideration with Mojave suspension, even though unsprung weight, are you going to wider rims with same offset or more offset to make room for wider tires? I’m glad I’m happy with stock rims and the 33s.....Jack

Now the real fun begins. Finding a light wheel with the appropriate backspacing.

Did you end up finding a wheel. Thinking about going to 35s and would like to get new wheels that are wider for those 35s. More generally what backspacing and offset did you go with?
