Setup: 2021 Mojave, 2.5" Clayton Overland+ Lift w/ 35" General Grabber X3's
Driving to Arkansas from Georgia. Got about an hour from home and going thru Atlanta around 60-65mph and hit a patch of rough pavement. Steering wheel begins shaking but recovers in a few seconds. Felt like a bad case of unbalanced tires. As I progress toward AR I hit numerous types of pavement irregularities. Expansion joints where both tires hit at the same time were no problem. Pot holes/bumps on one side only didn't seem to be an issue. It was offset right then left holes and bumps that set things off. Over 70 mph it was a slight shimmy and over in a few seconds. Around 60-65 mph a little more aggressive shimmy but recovers on its' own. Then I went thru Memphis and had to slow down to 55mph. I went thru a rough area where both sides were experiencing ups and downs. THIS sent the whole truck into convulsions front to back. Only way to recover was to get the speed under 40mph. Yep, definitely death wobble.
I had the lift for 4 months and during that time drove 4k miles. Never noticed an issue.
I contacted someone from the Little Rock area and got a recommendation for a shop to go to. Gave them a call and they were able to get me in on the morning I was returning home. Just on a whim I asked them to order a Falcon Nexus EF 2.2 steering stabilizer for stock suspension. I knew this wouldn't fix the problem but in a pinch it might mask it until I can get home.
When I got to the shop they gave me the following report: Steering Stabilizer is toast, tie rod and drag link ends are showing wear and should get replaced as soon as possible. Glad I ordered the Falcon. They put that on for me. I also bought the Rockjock kit but they couldn't put it on with the version of the stabilizer I bought. Needs an adapter for tie rod mount.
The stabilizer got me home with no further issues. Rockjock is going on as soon as I can get it in the shop.
BTW, the Falcon Nexus works really well. I set it to medium and really liked how the steering felt.
