its my first Jeep, i had 2 Cummins 2500 Rams for 20yrs before this Gladi. I stopped towing heavy so i didn't need a full size anymore, so this fit the bill. Its a 4X4 has a smaller box can still tow smaller trailers. Only thing i would change on this gasser Gladi is its under powered, but i did come from high torque Rams. Don't listen to other people do what's right for you ...

Go somewhere that will let you test drive it for a while. Including highway speeds.

Around town the Gladiator is as pleasant on the road as a F150.

On the highway you will notice the lack of power and worse ride more. If its all good enough then you will probably be happy.

I test drove a Willys and immediately realized I did NOT want MT (mud) tires.

I also drove a Rubicon and it felt under-damped.
I then drove a Mojave and felt that its ride/handling was going to work best for me on and off road. The reality is that a base Sport has enough off road capability for my needs.

My wife wanted leather and all the toys, so that meant an Overland at minimum. The difference between an overland and Mojave optioned similarly was in the 3-4000 range. So I went for what I wanted.

Selling my 2018 Tundra Crewmax and getting an almost new 21 Mojave. Not the great ride on the highway like the Tundra has, but I can flat tow the Mojave.

Those mud tires with only 1100 miles will be coming off ASAP.

I already have a toy - I have a convertible Camaro SS. I'm not looking for a toy per se. I'm looking for a fun all around vehicle. and frankly the F150 doesnt fit in my new house's garage and its not necessary to drive a full size every day. I do have 2 kids, one 9 and one just about 1. So, thats a concern
I have an 8 year old and a 3 year old and they fit easily.

I had a JL and it was good! Just needed a truck.

ha! my best friend has a JK Rubicon and he just keeps saying "its not a truck. its not a jeep. its...not really anything"
I'll probably catch some flak for saying this, but for all the good things people have to say about the "Jeep community", there are some pretty opinionated pricks out there that are pretty narrow minded about what is/isn't a Jeep and what belongs/doesn't belong on a Jeep.

I'll confess though: Jeep aesthetics rest on a razor's edge. There's a very fine line between "Damn that looks badass" and "Ugh what an abomination". And that same sentiment goes double for Gladiators. Certain trim levels and angles just look strange no matter what. Some of that is subjective opinion, and some is just our brains being used to see JL front ends with swing gates and spare tires on the back, not beds.

If it's any consolation, there are probably just as many opinions out there right now about your boring ass, run-of-the-mill F-150 and how it is oversized, only good for truck stuff, etc.

See how easy it is to flip shit around? :)

I have a 2007 Suburban, a 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter, and a 2017 Sienna... and recently sold a Sierra 2500. they're all "full size"... they all serve a purpose, as does the Gladiator. Picking up my JTM tomorrow... just after a few test drives, and a rental, I can tell you the Gladiator is 10x more fun to drive than any of the others.
As corny as it sounds, I guess it really is a "Jeep thing". Jeep haters probably prefer their toilet paper to roll out under-hand... go figure.
Do what makes you happy... doesn't really matter what others think. Life's too short.

Many years spent owning and driving F-150's, miss the space available in the super crew cab. I wanted something different and looked at the Bronco, test drove it and put one on order. After months of waiting and then realizing the Bronco wouldn't work because I do use the bed to haul more than what would fit into the back. I went to local dealer that had many models of the Gladiator to test drive. Test drove the sport, rubicon and mojave, found that I really liked how the mojave rode and drove so put one on order with all the bells and whistles. A few more months of waiting but Mojava arrived and now have the mid size truck that is capable, fun and convertible.

Hello! I have a 2021 F150 and I am very very tired of driving a full size pickup every day. I love the Gladiator but my jeep friends and my wife all hate it. I dont get the hate. I want a mojave / rubicon and there are few locally.

Question - anyone come over from full size? I don't tow. I just use the bed for mountain bikes and household stuff. Also, why the hate!??
Grew up driving full size fords, but I've always had a jeep for the past 30 years. Mostly wranglers or cherokee's/grand cherokee's but occasionally needed a truck bed. For me the Gladiator is perfect. It drives like the Jeep's I love (rides better than my wife's '21 JK I.M.O. because of the longer wheelbase) -and- I have a truck bed when i need it.

Definitely drive a gladiator at highway speeds, preferably over 75 on windy conditions. If you can deal with that then move forward. I put 240,000 miles on an 04 Silverado, it served it’s purpose for many years. Family road & camping trips, held plenty of gear, & drove great.

Kids are grown up now & was about to go full size again when this new Gladiator caught my eye. Wasn’t a Jeep guys when I went to look at one, didn’t even know what I was looking at in the showroom. All I knew was I liked it, but the showroom sticker price sent me packing.

Still intrigued I did some research especially under invoice pricing. Realizing that I no longer need a full-size and don’t tow anything a Gladiator easily fit my camping, kayaking, & around the house project needs. Bonus I can get a manual transmission. Extra bonus met up with a likeminded group of forum members in Colorado last month for off-road trails & off the grid camping. Something I couldn’t have envisioned a couple of years ago.

I had both Wranglers JLUs on 35s with a lift and a stock Gladiator Willys. I actually prefer the Gladiator over the Wrangler for a few reasons.

Pros
1. Daily Driving / Way less twitchy side to side on the highway (most important to me)

2. Under back seat storage
3. Utility of the bed
4. No tire carrier needed
5. Still very capable offroad
6. Can tow a little bit more
7. I liked the way it drove in sand, mud, and snow better

I actually think it looks better than a Wrangler when they are lifted and have a nice tire / wheel set.

Cons
1. The Wrangler is better offroad in certain situations. The breakover angle and departure angle.

--I have never received so much love or hate for any other vehicle I owned. I've owned a lot. Some people really liked it and others felt it was their life goal to put my truck down. It was always a conversation starter with strangers coming up to me and telling me how they feel. At the end of the day, I actually loved my truck. Except for Jeeps lack of quality control and dealer network. But that's another story. ?

That really goes for “car“ or “truck” people in general though. The closest and most polite comparison that I can make is that gear heads (pick a brand) are often like high school cliques.

In my experience though, Jeep people tend to be more extreme with their “feelings” than other brands. The saying ”built, not bought“ comes to mind.

That being said…even my wife gives me flak about my rig. I often refer to it as my “truck.”In response…my wife says “it’s not a real truck, it’s a Jeep.”?

69yo owned a successful const company and every 3-4 years I got a brand new F150 4x4 or a new F 250. Retired several years ago and wanted something different. I love my JT.

I had a few Ram 1500s and an F150 in the last 8 years, then switched to the Gladiator. We love the ability to take off the top and doors, the kids (3 & 6) fit just fine, and it does the towing/hauling that I need, plus better fuel mileage. I don't take it off road, but I'm sure it would do great. There are very few places around to go, plus I just enjoy a clean vehicle.

Now recently we took it on a decent road trip ( about 6 hours round trip ) and the wife was a little unhappy at the noise/wind/ride at 70+ mph. Just something to keep in mind.

After 43,XXX miles -
Would I go back to a full size at the right time? Possibly.. would need to be a V8 crew cab for sure. Would I trade my Sport S for a Mojave? Absolutely, and I would go for the manual.

I went from a 19 F-150 and 21 JLUR to a 22 Mohave. I miss the long distance drivability of the F-150 with the 36 gallon tank and the rock crawling of the JLUR. I decided to downsize and get rid of them and purchased the Mohave as I have been a Jeep guy for years. This will be my fifth Jeep. I have a SXS for hard core off-roading and and the wife's SUV for trips.

I mainly run fire roads and the desert and the Mohave is perfect for that. So far, the Mohave has been flawless.
