I saw this article earlier after looking at the other thread with the 40.4. I see a lot of theories and just wanted to toss this 1 out as well. This is the only article I could find that had more of them, though not the original pics.

From the article:

" Going shot by shot, there's 12.9 over rocks with a road in the background. A picture of water has 33.6 midway through it. Another rocky picture shows 100:1. Finally, 47.4 is tilted down a hill. "

I feel the article hits the nail on the head for each number as far as speculation.

Approach angle
Crawl ratio
Water fording
Ground clearance

Each matches the leak from Overland Expo, except the Approach angle which they had at 47.7 (likely typo), and confirmed by the journo under embargo on the JL forum.

A poster on the JL forum speculated the 100:1 comes from the optional 4.88 gears, 4:1 t-case and manual first gear ratio.

It's also how Ford originally claimed best crawl ratio... specifying the manual with the crawler gear and 4.7 gears.

There's also now speculation over on the JL forum that the optional 4.88 gears may be paired with 37" tires.

The argument is that 35" tires wouldn't be enough to increase the Rubicon's ground clearance to 12.9".

Wow, now that'd be something. I wouldn't be surprised, honestly.

Only question left is what the factory brand of tires will be.

I could see that. An increase of clearance by 2" would require a 4" increase in diameter.

So are we thinking then that this is just a new trim?

Per the Overland Expo leak, and basically confirmed by the journo over on the JL side, it's a package similar to Sasquatch.

Alleged to be called the Xtreme Recon.

Embargo ends tomorrow. TFL also mentioned Wrangler news for Friday in their TFL Talk Bronco podcast.
