I have mocked it up under the steering wheel per the common video that the search turned up. Probably because I have short legs I hit it with my right shin. Does anyone have pics of alternate locations?

I've hit mine lightly a few times, and I probably have average legs (31 inseam). It's a mild annoyance. I mounted it right of center, and with the back edge close to the back edge of the panel. Where is yours?

I mounted mine to the knee bolster panel, centered under the steering column. My legs are well offset from it in my driving position. I used a hole saw to cut a hole below the controller just big enough to pass the wiring connector.

Sounds like yours is higher than mine. My wires just come out the back into the open area below the dash.

Mine is mounted in the same place but on the lower lip so it is horizontal. I am new to this and didn’t realize they could be mounted at that much of an angle

Some cheap ones need a perfect angle, but then they can't go sideways either which I think you said you did? I don't think any should go sideways. Please review the instructions with your controller, to be sure.

Also, you want to be able to reach the lever. If nothing else to adjust it, but also in case of emergency sway. If you manually apply the brakes to the trailer, but NOT the vehicle, it will stop sway.

I mounted my controller where I could get to it and apply the brakes manually if needed. The hole under the controller is not visible from normal eye positions, but you could make or buy a cover for it.

i already had a Prodigy 3 so i mounted mine in the middle lower under the steering column , i used a drimel tool & cut probably 2" at the bottom of the removable panel. then mounted on the metal bar & used the removable mount when not in use it goes in my glove box.

I can reach it there easier than fumbling to find something I cannot see or taking my eyes off the road. To each their own.
