To be clear, I’ve towed a lot of trailers. This was just the first with the JTRD.

I rented the camper on Outdoorsy for the weekend. The temps were pretty mild and the grades pretty flat (north on I-35 from Kansas City), but is pretty representative of what I would normally see with regard to elevation and temps while towing.

The camper weighs about 3k dry according to specs but we had a full tank of water, full propane, camping supplies, and other stuff. I’m guessing it was closer to 4k on the trailer plus people, generator, etc. in the truck.

Overall I’m very happy with how it performed. I traveled the interstate between 70-80 and it never really kicked down below 7th gear. Occasionally it would not want to shift back to 8th after a hill so I would bump it into manual and force it to 8th. Then it would hold it until the next hill.

I didn’t hand calc the mileage but based on the fuel I put in part way and when we got home 12.5-13.0 seems about right.
