I can't switch homeowners, ever. Sucks. My house is in an "extreme fire risk" area and NO ONE writes policies for my neighborhood anymore. New buyers have to get the State's "FAIR" plan which is a ripoff and sucks. I've owned the house since 2005 so am grandfathered but I can't switch.

Retired and loving it
No tickets, no claims, no reason. My insurance bill for my 2017 JKU and my 2021 JT came in yesterday and my premiums went up over 25 percent. I called my agent and he said "Yeah, everything is going up. There's nothing we can do". Time to start shopping around.
He’s not wrong. EVERYTHING is going up.

I won’t even attempt to get into a discussion on the cause of that as it would for sure get the thread locked and probably me banned. . . ?

Depends who you ask
Bottom line is your dollars value is plummeting. I’ve said it before inflation is a silent tax and destruction of wealth waged against the middle class and working folk in general. The fed has created out of thin air tens of trillions of debt which has to come out somewhere that is an economic certainty. It’s been happening since before most here were born.

Yes, happening since before most here were born, but recently at a dramatically accelerating pace.

Everything is going up but my pay,,, retired. Everyone thinks they deserve more money. Just the reg on my JT is about $750 a year. Can't afford to move or get a new car. Price of gas and hotels going up so I have to stay home more. Except my house, everything I own is going down in value. But,,, Life is good, no complaints.

Well shit... Geico's auto insurance renewal I received today went from $550/6 months, which is already absurd, to $750. +$200 for 6 months, for just this Jeep. I'm 50, have excellent credit and zero record of tickets/accidents. I get Washington doesn't allow credit score, but I'm literally the lowest-risk driver out there and to pay $1500/year for a Jeep? They are out of their f'ing mind...

A call to their customer service (which they are desperately trying to hide how to get to them, now) said both Washington and Massachusetts just gave them permission to raise rates.

So, I'm now with Safeco for auto, which allowed a 1-year rate at around $800, which is basically what Geico wanted for 6 months. And my motorcyle and home insurance is now someone else, at a bit cheaper.

Bottom line-- this "bundling" thing is a farce. Insurance companies try to rope you in thinking you'll stick with them if you have all of your insurance through the same company. = shop around, and don't be afraid to go with different insurance for your home, car, cycle, etc.

Geico is an absolute scam.

Yep, every 6 month bill I got the past two years from State Farm have been anywhere from 18% to 28% increases, across all vehicles. No claims, no wrecks, no tickets. They are all doing it and it is unsustainable. Good luck in looking at other options.
Same here with Statefarm. Mine has gone up 30% since this time last year. No tickets or claims in the last 28 years and that having 2 vehicles and I can obviously only drive one at a time. Agent said they did away with the occasional use only thing years ago. Said they would give me 5% off if I stuck one of their tracker things in my OBD, told them to kick rocks on that 5%. ?

So here's what's going to happen:

1) Fewer and fewer people will get insurance, regardless of the law. This will include me if it goes up again like this.

2) Because fewer and fewer people will have insurance, hit-and-run crashes will skyrocket. No one will stick around, and why should they? Cops can't pursue, or really do their jobs anymore.

3) Those who still try to play by the insurance rules will continue to see insurance skyrocket to pay for this endless cycle.

Yep. I just got my Geico renewal today and they jacked me. I am going to shop around. I am in western WA, around your age, zero accidents or tickets, and they are now quoting $128 per month on the Gladiator. Insanity.

Kind of like not allowing SAT scores for college admissions. Everyone else pays for these absurdities.

Rule-followers always pay for the rule-breakers… until the system collapses.

And they don’t patrol the highway through Denver anymore… guess there aren’t enough cops. Intended consequences.

Did you see my policy premium I posted in this thread? $1,018 for 6 months which works out to $169.67/month. And that is with several so-called discounts. I switched carriers and got it down to a little over $1,500/year, about what Geico quoted you. We have no fault insurance in Michigan, looks like you guys do too. Sucks big time.

No fault is bullshit. How can they still have that in the age of dashcams?
