It a medium sized Southco adjustable draw latch.

I still need to install a second screw.

Is this for the Jeep/Mopar cover?
Doesn’t it have a latch built in?

A repeat of the same question^^^

I have the Mopar tonneau and of course it does have latches and they are protected by locking the tailgate. But even if you installed these, you can cut the tonneau fabric and access these latches so what's to be gained?

It has been stated, you could pry up the last section of the Mopar tonneau cover with just your fingers.
This added solution prevents the prying up of the last section.

A little added security against the opportune thief, but not the evil ones.

Thanks for this idea. I built a temp version using a draw latch. I couldn't get the hook version so I went with a loop and cut it into a hook with a dremel.

At the moment it's a temporary one. I managed to find a black version on Amazon which I have on order so when that arrives I'll put some rivnuts into the bed and make it more permanent. The black should at least make it look like it's natively part of the jeep.

Just a heads up. My tailgate lock broke the other day and the only way I was able to get in was to pry the cover up to reach the latch wires on the cover with a piece of coat hanger. I get they are easy to break into, but in this case I was glad it was. The mechanism inside the tailgate for the handle and lock are plastic and not robust.
