I have a 2020 JT Sport with the 4.10 gears and I am running Toyo ATII 285/75-17 10 ply. This is my daily driver and I am a fishing guide so I pull a boat daily and we tow our camper somewhere at least once a month. My problem is best I can do on the highway flat ground with my camper is around 66-68 in 5th gear running about 3800-3900 rpms and if i hit any kind of incline or wind it downshifts to 4th and jumps to 4400-4900. with the wind 7mpg and against it 4-5 mpg. Camper that I tow is 27' oal. and 4000#'s dry weight, boat and trailer is 31' oal. and 3000#'s. Now my question is would changing the gears help and if so what ratio should i consider, I am new to all of this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you want to remain on stock tire size, I’d go 4.56 and add a pedal commander (If not a full retune or Pulsar). That will fix the throttle issue and add a little better than 200rpm’s to your cruising revs.

4.88 would be fine, too, as long as you dont mind turning about 2200rpm at 65. But i would go at least 4.56 Because it sounds like you have a lot of hills/cargo etc.

if you plan on lifting or going bigger tire with all this, 5.13.

play around on this a bit: trans is the dodge 850re.
