About 3.5yrs ago I had 35x12.50R17 Geolander X-ATs installed. Rode on them for 20,000 miles then upgraded to 37x13.50 X-ATs. I got 62,000 miles out of those. They really shouldn’t have lasted that long, but they did. I loved how quiet they were, how good they rode on the rode, and how well they performed offroad (including rockcrawling). Now with 34,000 miles on these, I need to get another set of tires. I’ve been a lot more aggressive with the rockcrawling the last year and I’ve been a lot of places where the sharp rocks have chewed up my tires.

This time around, I wanna go with a set of M/Ts. I am trying to decide between the Geo M/T G003 and the X-MT. I don’t have a desire to go 40s. I need to scale back on the rockcrawling a little anyway. The G003 comes in a 37x12.50 but not 13.50. The X-MT comes in a 37x13.50 like my X-AT.

So, from all of the folks that have used either the G003, the X-MTs, or maybe both, what’s your opinion? For the ride, performance, and maybe longevity. Yea, I know they’re M/Ts. I’ve had M/ts quite a few times. But I’ve never used either of these.

So, what do ya’ll think?

I have the Yokohama Geolandar G003 M/T -- 37x12.5x17. I have about 25K plus miles on them and they are a little over half done. I rotate and balance them at America's tire every 5K-6K miles. I consider them great tires. They were pretty quiet when new. A little louder now. They wear well and evenly, great on the street, and they are good in the rain and snow. I have Method bead grip rims and I run them a 13 psi off road in the rocks. They are also light at 78 lbs or so... They have excellent grip on the boulders and rocks and resist chunking and slicing. I do have a small slice in one of mine, but, it has not proved to be an issue. I also have a few chunks, but, nothing like my previous Goodyear Kevlar M/Ts - which chunked bad. I really think the Yokos are great tires and I would buy them again. They were a great price when I bought them almost 2 years ago.

My first set of 37s was the Goodyear Kevlar M/T. They were horrible. The Yokohamas have been so much better than the Goodyears that it is hard to believe. The Yokohamas are better in every category - on road, off road, wear, fwy, tracking, snow, rain, rocks, desert, ride, etc.... I only left the Goodyears on for 20K miles and they were done...

Lately, for offroad, I have been impressed with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T. I have seen those tires really stick in the rocks. The Mickeys will be my next set of tires to try, but, for all around, the Yokohamas will be hard to beat. Here are some pics for you:

I'm running a set of the G003's in 37x12.5r17. Replaced a set of (very) worn out Pro-Comp MT's (don't buy those). I've got about 10,000 miles on mine.

They're one of my favorite tires. I pretty much agree with everything that @hjdca said, they're one of the best tires on the market. Excellent performance both on and off road. Pretty quiet for a mud tire. One thing that I'll add is they're about 10lbs lighter than a set of 37" Toyo MT's. Pretty heard to beat this tire.

I am in the same position as you are exactly. Same rims too. I high recommend the tires also for all of the above mentioned. M/T are a great option.
