Most of the time when I buy a used vehicle I have pretty good luck avoiding the DPO ( dumb previous owner) stuff. However Ive had a few doozies in my day. I purchased my Gladiator used and the portable BT radio was gone but oh well not a big deal. But then I actually found something that made my day! I noticed a valve stem in the bed of my truck mounted to the RH side wall. At first I thought air shocks but to my pleasant surprise its air springs. I was going to put these in my previous vehicle when towing my camper. Ive never had air springs before does anyone else here have them and if so, what is the recommended pressures or average pressures you use when towing?.

Also what other discoveries have you all found in your previous used purchases?

I believe if they are red they are Airlift 1000 airbags, if they are blue they are Firestone Ride-Rite, if they are black they are Airlift 1000 HD made for a Ram 1500. Pressure for the red Airlift is 5-35psi. The HD Airlift is 5-50psi. Firestone is 5-70psi. There are no specifications for how much psi for any particular load. You fill them up until it feels/looks/drives right. 5psi minimum, probably so the bag doesn't fold over or bend wrong or get out of place when not needed.

The only thing I found on the Gladi is previous unreported damage. Called the new insurance co to get it covered, they said,, oh, it's had some repair work done. from an accident. Previous ins co didn't say a thing.

I once took a chance and purchased a Chrysler Laser from a friend that was hit by a city plow truck. ( the car not the friend LOL) The damage was only in the rear quarter panel and did not restrict the tire. The clincher was that it did not run after it was hit. My friend ran a tow business and purchased the car for peanuts. He asked me if I was interested in it and I was because even with the damage it was still a very cool car. T roofs and everything. I was determined to get it running. After replacing a few parts and the computer module I found the issue. The distributor was turned 180 degrees out of timing. Now I know a hit from a plow truck would not do this. As a matter of fact the distributor was bolted down tight and not loose. Me and my friends best guess was that the previous owner turned the distributor on purpose to make the car not run so he could possibly get more $$ out of the city for the claim. I drove that car for many years after until the trans went out. My car looked just like this one, only it had the rear quarter panel smashed in.

Wannabe Starion or Foxbody 5.0.

Drugs? I wish but instead find cigarette after cigarette. Some are in places you wouldn't even think of looking but they are always there. As a quitter (everyone hates a quitter) I am extremely keen to the smell. After a year I finally got the smell out of the seats, cloth, and carpeting. I still find cigarettes but not as often. Really surprised that a smoker did not burn the seats?

I bought a new to me Grand Prix Gt special Edition once from an individual, I was just divorced and broke as heck. The lady felt bad for me and sold it dirt cheap. I was cleaning it out in the back because she had small kids and when I removed the rear seat, I found 3 happy meal hamburgers a bunch of fries and a few toys the burgers were not even molded. The trunk was full of kid's cloths and toys also. Great car Tho until my 16yr old son drove it and t-boned an old lady in it. Her fault.
