I ordered a new set of wheels and was told I will need to buy a new set of lugnuts. The store said my factory ones would not work. This is the first aftermarket wheel I have bought and it doesn't make sense why the factory lugnuts would not work.

Is this true or just an up-sell by the store?

The wheel is the RACELINE 981-RAPTOR.

Sometimes the space where the lug fits in the wheel is too thin for factory lugs. Every aftermarket wheel I have had is like this. The lugs needed for the new wheels have always been thinner and required an adapter. I'm sure they are not all like that, though.

You will have to use the dreaded splined lug nuts. I can't stand them.

In fact, one of my requirements for aftermarket wheels is that they use factory lug nuts. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that Quadratec wheels get good reviews on this forum, are inexpensive and take factory lug nuts. (or bolts)

AEVs also accept factory lug nuts.

Yes, I should have mentioned that.

I was most likely going to get Pintlers until I found the Quadratec wheels for $120 less per wheel, but still with reasonable backspacing. I was hesitant at first, but I asked on this forum and everyone who replied was happy with them.

My new Fuel wheels required thinner lugs. $40 at Autozone.
