For a few, it does. I have never needed or wanted anything it does, though.
Everything I want or have done I've done with other means. (and much more cheaply - leaving me with tools that can do far more for other purposes)

I'd never recommend to anyone, especially a newbie, to make a tazer permanent. Bad idea. Sure, it's a great marketing thing, but in practice, not so much.

Even the folks who created and market the device say - unmarry and remove before dealer visits. It has been known to complicate things. Should it? Not necessarily. Can it? Yeah.

I won't give any dealer an excuse to either not do work, charge extra, or deny warranty.

But I understand the "tazer is god" thing. It's almost cult-like.
No human would ever say "I bought this but there are some drawbacks". It pretty much makes it look to others like maybe they are imperfect or could have made a better choice.
It's a good device, has it's purposes - but this "everyone NEED tazer, it's the best thing since Jeep and I can't understand why others aren't loving what I have" thing..............

There are cheaper ways to secure a vehicle, ways most thieves won't be able to get around. Remember, they break things to steal vehicles........ and are very aware of the CANbus connectors and other technology in a Jeep vehicle.
It's one method. But I'd never suggest making it permanent. That's asking for trouble just in case it happens to fault on you while on the road........... I'd want a way to rip it out and move on.

It's an option, but certainly not the only and I'd suggest maybe not even the best, unless you feel you "need" what it does.

Makes a great joke, but you'd be surprised as to how many young people know all about manual transmissions and love driving them.

51% of GenZ can drive a stick and more are wanting to learn.

Makes a great joke told by boomers on the internet, but holds little in real life.

So, you old folks - if you see the stick sticking around, maybe thank a GenZ person.
They are turning their backs on automation in some cases.
fair points sir. fair points

No, I purchased it on December 28 and they said they never received the due bill and that they had to order parts so it would be two weeks, then two weeks went by and well long story short, I just had it done February 5, so I didn't know what I didn't know.
Thats fucked up. I'd make some noise and try to make em fix it. false advertising to take advantage of someone who doesn't know the platform is cruel.

Gotta agree - they dragged things out to the point that the consumer had no idea what was being sold them.......... worth talking to a pro in the area, even the state AG. CA is many things good and bad, but at least they do take care of consumers in this sort of thing.
In this case, living in CA could be an advantage.

And - horses are intelligent beings - they bond with people like few other creatures can and it's great to see someone is concerned about their 4 legged family member.
I'm not a "horse person", but I fully get it. We used to have an acreage with several acres fenced off apart from the rest where the house was. We let neighbors use that area for their horses. The southern fence of that area was 20 feet from our bedroom window. It was really neat to wake up to the horses coming to greet us in the am. I miss that.

For security:

If you have the SiriusXM trial with Uconnect you have vehicle tracking, otherwise you can add a LoJack or AirTags or some other tracker. Im not sure which radio you have or if the smaller radios come with that.

If you have a soft top, especially with soft upper doors, just leave it unlocked, otherwise with a hardtop it’s like any other vehicle. People will cut your top which is worth a lot more than what you’d want to leave in a vehicle.

You can set a pin with the Tazer, but I wouldn’t trust that. My Tazer has gotten flakier with each update and a lot of people have stopped using them. It does have some nice convenience features. That pin prevents starting. I’m not sure how secure the remote key is. I’ve tried intercepting the code with my Flipper Zero and I believe it’s a rolling type and thus more secure.

People can cut the steering wheel if you have a Club on it. If someone really wants to steal a vehicle there’s not much you can do. Even if they can’t start it, they can flatbed it.

Generally speaking, if you think it’s going to get stolen, don’t park it there. Honestly, most places are a lot safer than the media and politicians would have you believe, especially around election time. In many places crime is at an all time low. The bigger issue is petty crime, with crack heads breaking in to steal loose change. That’s where not leaving anything in a soft top Jeep comes into play.

For additional physical security, although it won’t prevent theft of the entire truck, you can get a hard tonneau, like a Diamondback cover. @813 Fabrication & Design makes a locking under rear seat basket (it locks to the rear seats, themselves). This provides a lot of lockable interior storage. Decked makes locking drawers for the bed. I’d still put those under a hard tonneau. You can also buy metal vault inserts for the center console to make that even more secure, but don’t leave a firearm in your car beyond running into the 7-11, even with something like that. It’s not worth the legal liability to keep guns in cars.

YES! I have a meeting at 9:30 but I am calling after that to see what they say.

Agree. They are intelligent - and they live to 30-40 years of age so they are family.

For security, I am looking for deterrents - I realize they will take it if they want it, but if I can throw a wrinkle or two so maybe they think twice?

It does have the tracker, so that's good. It's a hard top.

I have to park in the city for a week for work. It will be in a parking garage.

Thank you!

Hi All,

Finally able to buy a Gladiator! Super excited and I love it! However, it is a Sport with no bells and whistles - no auto door locks or alarm - everything manual. Because nothing locks with a click of a button, I will open it up with half doors in the spring. I had the dealer put on a leveler lift and max tow package so it's under warranty, but that's it for mods so far.

So... what is the best way to get additional security?

Does anyone use a steering wheel lock to deter theft? If so, favorites?

Any other security tips?
Bolt hood lock.
Pedal Jack, not a steering wheel club.
Security wheel bolts.

Ok with the kill switch, the tazer and a steering wheel lock, that should be enough to deter most... I hope. It has to live in the city in a few weeks for a week lol.

I can't find any gladiator that has a max tow package with a quick online search, they just have tow packages. So I would have to order one... I think I will see what they say, but odds are good I'm just going to ask for the upgrades per ecidiego.

850w cooling fan and 240a alternator, provided the N5 Z case fuse is 100a on the truck.

Thanks everyone!
Here's one. I bought my Jeep here... but my Rubicon was $6000 less than this Max Tow:

My take on parts of California is that "parts" are the target - batteries, wheels/tires, panels, that sort of thing. Sure there are full vehicle thefts, but some areas, take some parts of Chicago, for example, you leave a vehicle and come back a day later to find doors, wheels, battery, radiator and other stuff gone. And they are FAST. So slowing them down is going to stop at least one type of thief.
Can't hurt to toss in something like an Apple air tag if you are into apple stuff. Samsung has similar that works only with Samsung phones (and not all models)
Hood locks slow things down, wheel locks as well.
Don't leave anything laying in the vehicle at all - no papers, no nothing. Make it look clean inside, nothing to make someone curious or attract attention.
I've always wondered - if I had to park mine for more than a day or two somewhere - a heavy chain run through a wheel or two up around something solid in the vehicle. Looks silly as heck, but can't easily roll it away without bolt cutters.

I can do wheel and hood locks for certain! thank you!

is it whithin 30 days of original pyrchase? u can return the truck and get your money back
It depends entirely on the state where you live. In many states, there is no vehicle return. Once you sign for it, you own it.

true, but i'd call this sale under false pretenses. which is illegal and suable in court.

Yeah, the literal wording "Max Tow" is there which a Jeep dealer cannot argue "we didn't know what that meant". She could probably return the truck as no remedy can make it a real Max Tow.

Ok, well the sales manager seemed sorry enough. He was irritated and actually knows how dangerous it could have been. So we shall see what he comes up with.

He also said he would talk about this situation in his sales meeting tomorrow.
