i've seen some folks who said they replaced their rear sway bar and it made it steer so much better.

not sure I fully understand that but I have read that.
I have the Hellwig rear swaybar in the ‘middle’ bolt hole. It definitely makes the entire vehicle feel tighter but did not impact my steering. I added it because of the 350-400 pounds I always have it the back. Definitely took away some body roll.

Road crown is a huge component ... I notice a constant right pull when on our interstate, now if I shift over the road crown that pull transitions to the left. The question is ... are your expectations reasonable for a solid axle rig? ... what are you comparing your experiences to?

I'm comparing mine to a 2011 JKUR and a 2015 JKU Sport. Both lifted 3.5" with 35's. I could also compare it to my '81 & '83 CJ-8's but those are like driving on ice skates once you get on pavement.

My JK's tracked flawlessly...not sure what is up with my JT. As the OP said on long road trips it becomes exhausting.

Until I increased my caster well over recommended and set the toe out by about a half degree mine would drift like that on any crowned roads, which is pretty much every road around here.
Bump steer was equally noticeable.

Toe is easy to change and test. Caster can be as well, IF you have adjustable control arms or geometry correction brackets with multiple settings.

Also, every lift shifts the body off center of the suspension. This is correctable with adjustable trackbar. You may want to check to see if yours is centered after the lift.

Beyond these things you should thoroughly check every single front end component related to steering, the steering gearbox and out to the ball joints.

I would let out a couple lbs of psi from the left front tire and put that constant left pull on the steering wheel to bed. Sure, it’s a bandaid fix and you can still look into what’s causing it but if it gives you less annoyance, do it.

I kind of wonder if there is a possibility your tires wore wrong due to a balance or alignment issue with the rear axle being off center.

Hey OP,

I'm dealing with what sounds like the same thing and have done much of the troubleshooting that has already been suggested.

My pull started right after I installed a few components trying to tighten my steering up that started feeling sloppy...
Components replaced:
Synergy Drag Link
Synergy Sector Shaft Brace/Frame-side Trackbar Mount
Steering Stabilizer

Control Arm Alignment - Had it checked and everything is in spec. My caster is lower than I would like but that has not changed since the pulling started.
Drag Link Alignment - I've had it centered and even centered the steering wheel myself a few times and found that after I turn super hard (read lockers on and not moving) I can cause it to go out of alignment again.. which leads me to think it's possibly a steering box issue which leads me to the TSB where a "pull" is part of the complaints.. however I have the steel box from my super early model year '21 so I'm not super sure...
Tires - I've had these tires on different sides now and the pull stays the same direction
Steering Stabilizer - I installed this around the same time as a few other components and my pull started shortly after this.. so that kinda points to this pretty obviously... yet I have a thru-shaft model so theoretically it should not be causing this because there is not a positive/negative side of the chamber to cause this... but going to pull it soon and see.

Of course we can't assume our similar symptoms will have the exact same cause.. but could give you a place to look further and validate.
I'll keep ya updated on what I find and hopefully save you some time!

I appreciate it. Sounds very similar to my situation. If I find my problem, or my fix, I’ll update as well.

I have had them rotated without it making a difference. I was thinking about the rear axles being off center prior, but I can’t really see how that would make a difference either.

I’m getting somewhat frustrated. My Jeep wanders/veers right. It requires constant slight left input on the steering wheel to maintain a straight track. I understand that road crown will cause this to happen to some extent especially in the US, but this is more than it’s been in the past.

Things I’ve Tried:
1. I’ve taken it to two alignment shops and both say the alignment is fine. Both made a slight steering adjustment to center the steering wheel. Image from the first shop.
2. I’ve checked that tire pressures are matched and done a chalk test. Those are fine At about 33 lbs each.
3. I have a Fox ATS stabilizer and tried different settings, but with it being somewhat neutral, not sure how this could cause the issue.
4. I’ve checked to make sure the axles are centered, the rear wasn’t, but I did center it and the issue persists. I did this before taking it to get aligned.
5. I’ve checked for damaged or loose steering and suspension components and so have both shops—nothing problematic.

I’m running a 3.5” Clayton Overland Lift, 35” Falcon Wildpeak AT3s, Sector Shaft Brace, Teraflex HD Ball Joints, and Fusion 2.5 ton Aluminum tie rod and drag links. Is there a way I can drive this thing without having to put consistent steering input to the left? I can literally aim left And within 200’ arc right back into the right side curb. Or is this just a Jeep thing?

Out of spec steering box.
Do you mean like it needs to be adjusted so the gears mesh closer or further apart?

I know there was a steering box upgrade for my 2020. The new one was way beefier than the original. I changed mine out under through the dealership. I think there was some sort of tech service bulletin on it… either way they changed it. They weren’t thrilled but they covered the cost too.

Mine required a hell of a lot less input since. I’ve taken mine from Orlando to San Fran on one trip and Orlando to Michigan or New Hampshire (depending on the wife’s desired destination) on many others… I noticed a huge difference after getting it done.

BTW- if the rear axle is off even a little bit- it can cause it to crab a bit and that can make a difference. But that should’ve been spotted during your alignment.

Good luck!!!

Closer. Let the dealer figure it out. But you can check it before hand. With engine off, have someone steers it back and forward within the dead spot. See if the steering yoke shaft (before steering box) sync and then check how much dead spot before the pitman arm begin to move corresponding to steering movement.

If it started after the lift it could be that. a good 4x4 shop that will adjust the arms to get it right. I don’t think you can just copy the measurements in the instructions. A good shop will get it right.

IMO your "thrust angle" might be a problem, especially when you compare to your "steer ahead" the difference is in double digit, if you have not already installed then a rear adjustable trackbar or the trackbar relocation bracket can help.

Jeep Gladiator No matter what, pulls right AB0E397A-CD80-4A82-B077-0437ACB5FBF6

I have teraflex relocation bracket and the 12th notch on FOX ATS, and this combo works perfectly for my JTM.

Also, FOX ATS adjustment is directly related to how heavy your steering components & wheels and tires are and the wheel offsets & hub centric or what not.
After i felt comfortable with alignments, I went from -12 offset non-hub centric to 12 offset hub centric Morpar XR wheels and they handle way better when you go over bumps and pothole in high speed, i don't get the steering jerk and wooble because now wheels are closer together & the vehicle wight rests directly on the wheels and with less leverage but still have enough clearance for to run 37s. ( i know these are very minor changes but it makes a huge difference in driving experience)
