Hey, really stupid question. So I’m about to roll out and run some off road trails this morning, this is not something I’ve ever done before. They’re standard wheels so not bead locks or anything like that. Is it critical I air down the tires and how far do you generally go? Or can I just leave them at the door spec and call it good? We’re only doing a moderate trail so it shouldn’t be anything insane with giant rocks or anything.

IMO, I would drop PSI down .. I have run as low as 24psi I have heard of going to 18-20 by others.. Do put back up before much on road. This gives a more cushy ride and improved tire print for traction.

Air down as mentioned above. Your tires will flex over the smaller, sharp stones too.

First, do you have a way to air them back up? If not, then no. If yes, just go with what you are comfortable with. For something moderate with no rocks 20 should be fine.
I do not and that’s what eventually stopped me from even touching them. I lost service and couldn’t even read anyone’s responses. I’m going to be buying a pump. It was a moderate trail and we ran it at 37ish PSI. Wasn’t too bad, had a few spots that were pretty deep but it was smooth.

Forest roads are fine at stock psi, but less psi provides a softer ride over bumps.

yeah, that’s what I heard but without any experience I didn’t even think of it till this morning. The 2nd one was a forest road and it was pretty mild. The first road we did was definitely 4X4 only, it had some very deep ruts and rocks. I should have taken some photos but I was just concentrating on getting through it.
