Post what you have upgraded to... where you got them... the cost... and how they are working out. Pics are appreciated!

Hopefully this will be one thread where someone can scroll through, and see a variety of options for their JT and how they are working out.

I'm hoping to see if anyone has added additional super bright lights in the rear bumper when reversing. Really helps if you have dark tinted windows or it's raining out.

I put on a set of the KC 519 Backup Lights. I used the pieces from Curt to tap into the trailer wiring to provide a feed from the reverse light circuit and a way to mount the plug. I also added a backup alarm, and the Curt pieces allow a quick disconnect of the lights and alarm, if needed. The mounting brackets were designed for the Wrangler bumper, and are real easy to mount to the Gladiator bumper.

The first four photos are just the brackets after mounting them. The fifth shows the mounted lights. The last photo just shows the backside of the bumper. Some have expressed an interest in removing or modifying the red reflector and mounting lights in that position. It also shows how the brackets just set on the existing bumper bolt and are held in place with an additional washer, lock washer, and 10mm nut.

There are a few members that have done just that

Yeah I think I've seen a thread about it but don't remember if it had install pictures. Hopefully they'll come up here

I added part links and photos in my post above for the lights I installed.

I like your setup, do you have any pictures of how bright those lights are when reversing? Also, are the electrical wiring connected to your auxiliary inputs?

I like the idea replacing those red bumper lights with a brighter reverse lights. Has anyone done this?

Also, is it illegal to remove those back red reflectors and replaced them with something else?

No, these lights are only connected to the reverse feed from the trailer wiring. They only light up when it's in reverse.

I'll see if I can get a night shot with the reverse lights on.

That's a very good question. I don't know the answer, or if it is a state or federal issue.

It’s required by law. I’d think if someone was trying to weasel out of rear ending you at night could perhaps do it with a good lawyer

Thanks for the heads up. Definitely not going to mess with it then. Not going to risk getting sued just for better positioned lights lol.
