Ehhh, no.

The Overland has painted fenders, different wheels and side steps. Those are probably the BIGGEST differences in the Sport S and Overland. There's a couple other smaller things, but those are probably the most expensive differences. Then you have more options as well..

The differences between the Overland and Sport S are listed on the Gladiator page on the Jeep website. Click on the link, "View Model Comparison" below the text SELECT YOUR GLADIATOR.

I have been looking at this quite a bit. LED lights are not an option on the sport S. The only thing the Overland gets me that I want is the LED lights. The LED lights for me becomes a ~$3000 option when I compare the two models with similar builds.

A bit off track from your question regarding the standard differences.....the Sport S has the option of the max tow package, which gets you the 4.10 rear axle ratio (and other stuff). I don't believe this is an option on the overland (correct me if I'm wrong). Could be significant for folks looking to put larger tires on their gladiator and prefer this axle ratio.

PhatJoe:

According to the configurator, you can get max tow with the Sport S. But I had to pre-select the auto trans in order for it to add Max Tow to the build.

Yeah, they used to have those choices reversed on the configuration site. Poor site design that you have to scroll down past the Max Tow selection to switch transmissions, then back up to the other options. Selecting Max Tow should automagically switch transmission options.

anybody know why the overland with 850RE 8sp and 3.73 axle ratio tow rating is 6,000bls
and Sport with 850RE 8sp and 3.73 axle ratio is only 4,500?

That is a great question. I am not sure if Jeep just screwed them entries up or if that is actually the case. It sure doesn't make any sense to me, that's for sure.

Tire size, gear ratio, and cooling in combination to lower the engine's heat rejection and be able to tow more as a result.

So it has different gear ratios in the 8 speed? Both have same axle ratio.

So with the tow package and Rubicon tires, I wonder what I can tow......
