Pedal commander or iDrive on an eco diesel?

I keep wondering if I need one. Do they make much of a difference on the diesel?

I have peddle commander, also 4" lift and 35's. have not played with it much. looking for a happy medium between responsive and mpg's! certainly helps, currently getting 20mpg city and more responsive then factory
