These stock Sport S wheels are so BLAH, i also hate silver/chrome wheels.

Anybody ever plastidip wheels? Figure I could do this with my Lease, and then turn it back to stock before I'm done with the lease.

Thoughts?

Check out options with the company I work for. Alloy wheel repair specialists. We have franchise locations in your area and a company owned location in north east Chicagoland. Lifetime warranty on any paint color you want done. It will look good enough that you wont have to worry about changing it back to OE unless you pick a weird color. To be fair there are other companies that do the same work.

PM me if you want specific information. Not trying to sell anything just sharing info.

I have plastidipped a few set of rims and it holds up really well. The key to easy removal is to spray heavy at first so the initial layers adhere to itself well. The first set I painted, I sprayed many light coats and it was very hard to remove around the lip and lug nut holes. Basically any tight spot that is hard to get to. The second set I sprayed with a heavier hand and it was much easier to remove. However, I still had some difficulty getting in the hard to reach spots. A pressure washer helped, but there were still small bits leftover. You can't really notice unless you're looking, but they are there.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Don't know what direction to go. Can spray, professional wrap, or truly black rims.

Go to Craigslist or FB and buy a set of rims cheap from someone who bought bigger tires and rims on their way home. JK rims (if they fit) go for $100 for 5 with sensors all the time. Paint those however you want and put the original rims in the corner of the garage. When your lease is up, put the original rims back on and drive it back to the dealer.

It is safe to sat they are interchangeable since the Mopar Accessory catalog features a few designs that were previously used on JL models. One in particular being the 17" Mopar Beadlock capable wheels.

JK and JL wheels have a different offset. You can use a JK wheel on a JL but they will stick out just a bit wider.

Assume the JT is the same as a JL, not sure this has been 100% confirmed.

I really want to know the OEM wheel weight.

JT, JL & JK are all 5 on 5 from what I understand. I heard the same as @homerun run said, JL rims have more offset so the wheels are tucked under a hair more hence the 245’s instead of 255 width tires. If you have an extra set of rims for a JK that you like you should be able to put them on. Only thing you’ll have to check is weight rating of the rims so if you max out the payload with plywood, your rims and tires can handle the weight :like:
