I just got an email from a local Jeep dealer that I have been working with. His GM just got back from a meeting with FCA. He advised that ordering starts in March. Production starts in April. Trucks to start rolling into dealerships in late May. And starting price for base Sport models to be at $40,000.00 again for a base model Sport model truck, not even a Sport S. He was not given any indication as to what other higher end trucks would start with. But this alone makes it about $7,000.00 more expensive than a normal 4 door Wrangler.

They said from the start that they would make it intentionally expensive and it looks like that may be the case. They may have just lost my business. Will have to sit back and see if this pricing turns out to be true or not.

I call bull spit. If they wanted expensive they would be no Sport or Sport S. This is not that nice of a truck for smart folks to pay $40,000 for a base sport. There is no market there.

Stop listening to sales reps. Stop listening to the person they hired to go to the auto shows. Stop listening to so off the wall article in a magazine. There is no market for a $40,000 JT with no basic options.

Start listening to what your common sense says. If it says sure thing dude a $40,000 JT sport sounds about right seek help.

I don't know what to think and I'm not going to Jump to a conclusion just yet. The dealer told you arriving late May but Jeep said end of June, I think it was. So we will see what happens. I will say that if the JT is is in the same price range as a new Ram 1500 loaded Laramie then I will pass for now. I don't want to pass on it, but if its that much them I'm going to go buy an 06 LJ Rubicon and a used Tacoma or Comanche and wait for the prices to come down or find a used one. I know that Jeep doesn't care and it's not that I couldn't go buy it but $68k+ for it I don't think it's worth that to me right now, maybe if everyone else thinks that way it will help. Now if the Hercules is a real thing and it came in at that price maybe a different story for me depending on what else you get.

This is the most fun I've had in years!

In addition to the settle down ya'll above, just think about it.

Jeep doesn't have a line of pickups.

Jeep doesn't have a real pickup.

All Jeep has for sale is this tweener lifestyle vehicle.

Therefore, Jeep cannot have JT as highest priced vehicle.

That is laughable.

Is the Mercedes truck the highest priced?

The first year of the Escalade?

Now, Jeep using JT as a better than everything the competition has to offer, high price at the high end, and reasonable at entry level, that makes sense.

To add to your Jeep collection, your Benz collection, your fun lifestyle collection.

I basically heard the same thing from a dealer who was at a recent auto show. I almost hope thiis is true so I don't end up overpaying for this truck...even if the base sport S started at 40k with no options I think people will still be pissed. I would be out then. That is unless some dealer would discount it enough, which I also don't see as very likely .

Makes sense but sadly (SRT8,Trackhawk, and special wranglers aside), I think it will be high on the low end and the high end! Just my opinion after hearing all the "news" so far and considering how much the Wrangler is already. This line of thinking is also preparing me for the worst which can't hurt I guess. Haha

Aside from the comments above, there is also the statement (which again should be taken with a grain of salt) that they plan to sell 75k JT this year. If the entry point is $40k they won't get anywhere close to that number.

Hey folks please take it with a grain of salt. I always said that IF can be a big word. And as I said in the last sentence of my above post:

Will have to sit back and see IF this pricing turns out to be true or not.

And the thread is “Possible”’bad news, not guaranteed bad news. So we all (me included) need to take a chill pill for now and cross fingers and just hope it ain’t so. Thanks folks.

Sorry but no can do. I don’t want to get this dealership or the salesperson in trouble with FCA.
Well, if true, ain't no trouble to be had.

And if false, FCA only has itself to blame for this foolishment.

I agree but I don't know that I would release the name at this time myself.

If it was released do you think everyone would wait till the facts came out to react, or do you think they would get calls complaining before anyone even knows the truth.

Lets not turn them into some Kentucky kids in MAGA hats.

My late mother used to always tell me to believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see and you’ll be doing all right.

So for now let’s all sit back and wait for the official prices to be announced directly from FCA. Cross fingers folks.
