Possible to make new gas tank hangers?

Pretty much every skid system on the market leaves the stock fuel tank skid in place and I'm assuming here that it can be separated from the fuel tank itself. If so that's a lot of weight on the truck for something that seems redundant. Is there any way to fasten the tank in place while removing the skid in the case of someone installing a full pan system?

I think I answered my question... Seems Artec does drop the skid so I might see if their straps are an option.
