Enticed by the Jeep WAVE Program I brought my ride to the dealership for the oils change and tire rotation. One mile down the road after the service the LOW OIL PRESSURE light comes on, 3psi. Pulled over opened the hood, oil every f’ing where. Underneath it was dripping enough to form a good sized puddle.
They tried to make it right, sent a loaner and a tow. I was explicit in cleaning both the undercarriage and engine compartment. They said they would hand wash it as well. 4 hours later I get the call that it was a loose oil fill cap and that I can come pick it up TOMORROW... they didn’t have time to wash it.

Use the wave care program to report this. They will help. So sorry about this experience.

This happened on my wrx. The oil filter wad screwed down on some pebbles. Oil sprayed everywhere!!! It smoked like crazy!! Dealership detailed it multiple times and multiple more times. Ended up trading it in worried it could have some sort of long term issue.

And this is how I’m back in a Jeep. :)

I've got a couple freebies left in mine, but man, how do they screw up something so simple; really makes me hesitate to trust them to do it.
The newest/dumbest kid gets put on oil change duty because they need experienced techs to do the more technical and difficult jobs. Which is why I'm paying out of pocket to change my oil at home rather than using the wave program.

This could happen at any dealership with any make. Sorry to the OP - hope you get this fixed but the dealership is just that. A dealership.

Always worth doing a check before you drive it off from the dealership. Yes, they're free, and yes, they should be trained to handle this without any issues, but if you know how to do it yourself, it's worth the check... that sucks OP.

Man what a truck load of grief. Had many experiences of techs breaking my last vehicle to swear I’ll do as much of my own work myself. The only one invested in that depreciating asset is you, look after it yourself, if you can’t, check their work before you drive it away. Don’t blindly trust that they actually did the job properly and that goes for all service departments.

What a nightmare........
Only have 600 miles on my new Mojave and I normally enjoy changing oil in my trucks. Especially in one that is so easy as the Gladiator. But, I was gonna use the free changes since they are included. Now, I'm re-thinking that move. But, as others have said, it can happen at any dealership and a good after-check would be prudent.

On my first change they didn't tighten the drain plug enough and I had a small leak. Caught it after a few days and tightened the bolt (I have all the tools and know how to do this but free is free) and left a pretty bad review when asked for feedback. Not something catastrophic fortunately but still annoying.

Last trip I had some work done and everything went well. Overall my dealership experience has been very good, they have never given me any hassle on a request.

OP I commented earlier in this forum and I had mentioned I’ve got so many experiences of techs breaking my truck and I swore I’d do my own work, I have to share one experience that showed such gross neglect on the work that was done and was left up to me to find out later followed by bringing the problem back to service and met with denial. My story relevant because I too was not told about all the oil sprayed all over the engine which also covered the underside of my hood and even found within my LED strip lights and THEY DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME....and that was just the middle of the repair story. It got much worse.

This is not a Jeep service story but my previous vehicle being the Toyota Tacoma that I took in for brake work and a steering clunk when sitting idle doing full turns with the wheel.

I’ll try to be brief but this is a caution that we must never blindly trust that the work service order was done correctly with knowledgeable service techs and that we will be told if something bad happens.

1. The wheels were removed for brake work and placed back on. The torque spec for Tacoma lug nuts is 84lbs. I found out a few days later when I went to retorque them the tech torqued them down to 130lbs (Tundra spec). I made them change out the bolts as these were stretched and the integrity of them was comprised. They denied the tech made this error until they recalled the video of that work order and saw the tech grabbing the wrong torque stick.

2. (oil in the entire engine bay)
The second part of the work order was to check the steering clunk. 4 people from their top service tech, the Quality Assurance Manager, the Shop Forman and lastly the service advisor spent what ever time for that whole day to recreate the clunking noise and ALL determined it came from the D shackle I had mounted to the front. They closed out the work order saying this. They removed the $10 shackle, threw it in the back of the truck box and told me not to put it back on. (How can the steering make clunking noises when not driving nor going over bumps???) I grabbed my keys and went back out to the truck, started it and steered to the left and right and it clunked the entire time. I shut off the truck, marched back in all pissed off and grabbed the Quality Assurance Manager and told him we were going back out to the truck to deal with this. After 2 seconds of steering he yells “F#%k!!! STOP!!! Your rack and pinion is Fu$ked!!!” No shit I said and so the truck went back in.
So...I got it back all done under warranty and it was so quiet and smooth (wait for it)...

Got it home, smelled burning oil and looked under the hood to see the entire engine bay was covered in oil, (red ATF steering fluid) including my open K&N filter and box, the whole underside of the hood and my LED strip lights soaked in oil. I took it back, demanded everything to be cleaned up! Also told them I was scared to death to bring my truck in for service.

I got it back and went home to inspect. (OP this is where you may find yourself) I examined their clean up job and noticed droplets of water on the INSIDE of the power steering fill bottle. WHAT THE HELL???? Looked closer and the fricken red ATF fluid looked like tomato soup! My K&N filter was water soaked as well and I was grabbing my chest hyperventilating!!! They got water in everything and didn’t care to tell me.

I drove back pissed even more and was visibly vibrating. Shop Forman commented “I don’t know how water got into the fill bottle, it’s a sealed screw cap”. I said, they pressure washed the crap out of it and forced water in!”
They cleaned and flushed it out and assured me it was done right.
